Lord Vetinari ignored this. “Unfortunately, this mirror seems to be obscured slightly by these reports my clerks so frequently give up on deciphering. Do you understand me, Vimes?”

The Patrician sighed. “Grammar, Vimes. Spelling. I realise you are a busy man, Vimes, but I must insist you do not let Sergeant Detritus handle your paperwork from now on or I will insist you give him grammar classes.”
“Sir.”
“Good. Please, don't let me detain you any further.”
Vimes walked gloomily out and wondered what would be worst – doing the paperwork himself or teaching grammar to a troll...
