Swine flu brings out the hateful in people, May 1st in Norway (pics!)

This shit makes me so fucking depressed.

Swine flu, now being used to fuel and justify xenophobia and racism. Of course, this is nothing new, but it's as repulsive as ever. Not only has Mexico had to suffer the worst of this virus so far, now it gets blamed for it and its people as well. Blame the victim, always so classy.

FUCK THAT SHIT. To a flu virus, we're all equally human. Do you really wanna be lower than a flu virus, you hateful bastards?

Last night I watched Trouble the Water and that too depressed me proper. It's a great movie, and very powerful, but oi.

In Holland, the driver that killed six people driving through the crowd in an apparent attempt to get at the Royal family has died. The footage is quite startling and horrifying. Police is still investigating to attempt to find his motive. Not sure they'll find one that satisfies much, because how do you explain something like that?

Meanwhile in Norway it's May 1st, and it's a particularly lovely one. So I went out and snapped some shots.

We flag on May 1st, and the flag looked nice with the yellow flower tree behind.

Photobucket
Flowers have really started to pop out.

Photobucket
Flowers and my naked feet, yes.

Photobucket
Flowers!

Photobucket
Flowers again!

Pretty blue sky!

Lovely cuddly (oh yes, he looks proud and unaccessible, but I can convince any kitty that my lap is where they want to be the most!) kitty! And beautiful northern sky. That's one thing that still gets me - even sky here, about halfway closer to equator than where I grew up - is a different shade.

My cat is actually very cuddly and will come up and demand them. He's the cuddliest cat I've ever had.

I do tend to paint my toenails in summer as I wear open shoes. But it's a bit early yet.

I never paint my fingernails, only toes. Hmm.

hehe- noo, I meant- paint your fingernails in the colour of the flowers you made a pic of and then put your legs in the flowers- your fingernails will look as a part of the flower :P:P

Ugh. That Michelle Malkin needs to have a close encounter with a cluebat.

I'm just gonna look at the pictures now to distract me from the rage. Hello there, Norwegian kitty!

[identity profile] misscam.livejournal.com 2009-05-02 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Cats work wonderfully against rage.

What else do you expect from the wingnuts? It's seriously getting out of control. I'm getting ready to watch Countdown with Kieth Olbermann, and he's about to do a segment about how completely insane and lacking in human decency these people are. Jerks.

Anyway, Cute!Kitty is cute! Thanks for sharing.

People like their scapegoats, it seems. Even if they have to half invent them based on total bullshit.

UGH.

Lovely pictures!
Takes my mind off all the really really stupid people. Like a virus cares which country it affects..

[identity profile] misscam.livejournal.com 2009-05-02 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
Not the first time, sadly - Spanish flu, anyone?

[identity profile] maureenlycaon.livejournal.com 2009-05-02 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
My only consolation is that these assholes just might come down with the flu, decide to try some nice alternative medicines, and end up selecting themselves out of the gene pool. How the hell can anyone that stupid and vicious survive without wandering onto busy freeways and killing themselves? How do they get their shoes and socks on right three days out of seven?

I am so jealous of your yard's beauty. And I want to kiss your cat's nose.

people. ugh. actually, on the news the other day, someone made a very good point about how the mexicans have handled the situation- which is to say very well. there's always this fear that when something like this breaks out in a underdeveloped country, things will get out of hand- and fast. but the mexican government has been doing a good job, with keeping the capital's streets virtually free of anyone, suspending church services for the time being, and being cooperative in general about containing the flu. it's such a shame that people have to says nasty things about mexico.

pretty pictures! the trees and flowers all look so nice! and, of course, the cat is enjoying the lovely weather :o) thanks for sharing these and have a great weekend!
