Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] justapassenger_ and [livejournal.com profile] norwegianne

Amusing e-mail I got today:

do you know where to find a story with lagolas wanting muffins aragon getting cot on fire repetitive ly and frodo cussing and borimir steling lines i dont know were it went

What's this, Mad Muffin Aventures of the Mini-Balrogs?

Today I cycled from Lier to Sandvika, which is at least 30 kilometres. Go me. And of course, this weekend I saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Wasn't as brilliant as the book, but I quite liked it. And now fancy Arthur. I was a sad, sad thing for British men. The Arthur/Trillian thing didn't bug me (amazingly), and I was happy the little Norway-mention made it to the movie as well. Now I want the Dolphin Song, so I can play it on my computer until I go mad.

I haven't seen the movie but judging from the trailers it seems a lot better than the one BBC made, better looking actors as well if memory serves me.

That story sounds kind of scary. My poor Aragorn! ON FIRE?

Also, I think they did extremely good casting for Hitchhiker's Guide. And that dolphin song WILL drive you mad. Oh yes.

I haven't seen the movie yet, I think I was broke, or abnormally busy, when it was in theaters here. I wish I could have seen it. I think I can safely say I understand the whole "thing for the British men" thing.

Oh, definitely. But the BBC adaptation has its own charm. Most BBC adaptations d.

*nods* Yeah, I quite enjoyed the actors. The plot was a bit Hollywoodfied, but ah well.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish / so sad it had to come to this..." *sings*

I liked the movie better than I thought I would - totally loving the books since I first read them. They also left the door wide open for a sequel.

Loved that they kept some of the best bits - the whale and the ultimate answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything.

Oh, and Sam Rockwell, well, rocks.

They did indeed. Fingers crossed. And a film two wouldn't have to do as much exposition, which might help.

They couldn't have left out 42, that's essential. It wouldn't be Hitchhiker's without it.

Yeeeees... And Martin Freeman is adorable.

What is it with the terrible grammar and completely absent punctuation? That kind of post makes me feel like I've been contacted by aliens.

I liked Hitchhiker's too, I thought it was visually gorgeous, and the Vogon poetry made me giggle, but I agree, the Dolphin song was just perfect. I wonder if I missed any of it due to laughing too hard ...

Yes he is. There's something about him, isn't there? Can't quite put my finger on it, but he gave me the warm fuzzies.

And you're right about a possible second part. They could delve right into it. I can only imagine what they'd do with the GNAB GIB, heh.
I loved the animations for the Guide. Exactly how I had imagined them. Only Marvin was different from my mind's picture of him, but once I got used to it he was brilliant, too.

*blinks at email* You're kidding right... Please tell me you're kidding. Just... the boggles my mind.

I still need to see Hitchhikers guide and read the book. Should I read the book first?
