Shades of Dawn has been updated with chapter three here (ff.net) and here (CSI Forensics). (You'll note my matching icon, tahnks to [livejournal.com profile] kitness. I have a certain weakness for icons with story titles of mine. Ego, I suspect. Baaaaad ego.)

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them," says Barbara Bush

There is a wise old saying among my people, handed down fom Odin himself and not heeded nearly enough.

The witless had best be silent
When he moves among other men,
No one will know what a nit-wit he is
Until he begins to talk;
No one knows less what a nit-wit he is
Than the man who talks too much.

Or to translate into modern terms - Learn the fine art of STFU. Get that foot out of your mouth while you're at it. It's terribly unhygenic.

And I see the trend of writing fanfic about Katrina has reached the CSI fandom. I know it's meant well and all, but... I still feel an air of iff.

ETA: And Harry Potter...

Have worked all day. Feel exhausted and tired and iff. Blah.

Yeah, Barbara really stuck her foot in it on that one, didn't she? Also love how she said it's 'scary' to her that all the evacuees have indicated they want to stay in Texas. What's the matter, doesn't she want all those poor people who were unfortunate enough to have their lives turned upside down and everything they know destroyed mucking up her state?

No comment on Barbara Bush's remarks... *facepalm*

But YAY for California! Just YAY!!! :)

I think it's scary, too, but that's because I can't see why everyone would want to go to Texas. o.O; I mean, I realise they have nothing to lose, but if I were relocating after having lost everything, I'd want to go somewhere that's actually, you know, nice.

But whatever. I'm just prejudiced against Texas after having lived there for about ten years. ^^

Can't have the 'underpriviliged' mucking up the lovely shine of Texas, now can we?

There is not enough STFU in the world for statements like that.

Or, as Abraham Lincoln is reputed to have said: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

I couldn't believe it either. The level of WTFness is on high and rising. Good grief.

*orders another dose of STFU with lemon for the Bushes*

Learn the fine art of STFU.

I think it's a martial art, actually.

Texas has no shine. Texas has a dull glow of radioactivity and unfertile land. And overly large vehicles.

You'd think I was just operating by stereotypes, but what's so very sad is that the truck one is true..

I believe Barbs was also the one who talked about not troubling her beautiful mind about dead soldiers. Ah, how wonderful it must be to be completey callous/out of touch/both.

Odin rocks. He would make a really good SecGen of the UN.

Barbara Bush almost sounds like she's just said the modern equivalent of "Let them eat cake." *bangs head on keyboard*

Oh, very. ^^ It's mostly only taught by the old masters as of yet, Buddhist monks in the mountains and so on, but hopefully it'll soon make its way into city health clubs, and the public will learn of its wisdom.

Indeed. And, as I must shamefully admit, the lyrics of one of only two or three Savage Garden songs I actually know... :)

I sense a recurring theme. Even more reason for her to heed Odin's excellent well-proved advice.

He'd kick major ass. Literally, probably. All would listen or get the Lighting O'Smiting.

ICON!

Now I have a fantasy about Bush giving his MUST INVADE speech and Odin frying him for being such a lying putz. And then the Security Council would break out in cheers and everyone would cry tears of joy.

Wow. That HP fic on the hurricane left me at a loss for words....
And Barbara Bush needs sew her mouth shut. On the bright side, with all the goofs, and mistakes that Bush and his cronies have been making with everything, perhaps negative repercussions for Bush/Cheney/ the Religious Right are not far off?

"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue." Proverbs 17:28

"If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom." Job 13:5

So, that's two deities and a great American president telling Barbera to STFU? I think she should listen.

(Redone because neither God nor Odin are on diets.)

"If they have no bread, why don't they eat cake?"

Any more comments?

True. Maybe Mr. Lincoln was inspired by Odin.
