Fun wank, incoming wank
Oct. 7th, 2005 02:20 amCam has a rather amusing Doctor Who conversation - wherein wank about Harmonians turns to Doctor droolings, followed by fanfic plots and the symbolism of Naked!Doctor.
This is why I love Fandom_Wank. You never know what conversations will spring up about. Or indeed, fanfic plots.
Anyone who's read the spoilers for Gum Drops (CSI season 6, ep... 5?) probably feel the wank coming in their bones. I know I do. Already, there's fanfic trying to make it right for another 'ship. Oh yeah. I feel wank brewing in my wicked, wicked bones. (Spoilers for that fic, obviously.) Get yer trenches on, people. Incoming!
(Or come hang out with me in the Doctor Who corner. We serve tea and biscuits every hour and you can watch my fanfic bunnies populate.)
Tomorrow's (or rather, later today) the day where the rest of the world actually pay some attention to Norway - yep, it's the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize winner. Remains to be seen if it'll be a surprising one this year too, or one of the more expected. And no, it will not be Bush.
In other news:
Documentary ignites controversy
Bush calls for patience on Iraq (Hasn't he been doing that for like a year already?)
Snake bursts after eating alligator (Be wary, there is a picture.)
Senate backs detainee rights
Orgy may cause charges in Sweden
Norwegian 'hytter' (cottages) - pictures

Date: 2005-10-07 01:14 am (UTC)Only here in Florida, I swear. I've seen some snakes try to eat some pretty crazy stuff but that takes the cake.

Date: 2005-10-07 02:01 am (UTC)WTFWTF. I am apalled by the lengths people live in for the purpose of denial. But at least this fic had like, correct spelling.
Who are the Nobel Peace Prize nominees this year?

Date: 2005-10-07 02:28 am (UTC)It's the 'spends teh night' bit that might cause the wanky wank.

Date: 2005-10-07 02:31 am (UTC)Denial is a fun place. But when it has already started, I can only imagine what the ep will spark. Owie.

Date: 2005-10-07 09:55 am (UTC)Norwegian cottages = teh pretty. Much prettier than bursting snakes, which are clearly not suitable for computer users having rather belated breakfasts.

Date: 2005-10-07 10:40 am (UTC)Much, much love indeed. I've lurked at f_w for years. It's a nice balance to taking things much too seriously, as always happen in every fandom. Point and laugh a little, it lowers blood pressure.
And you're also a Dicworld fan. Eeeeeeexcellent.

Date: 2005-10-07 10:51 am (UTC)And we were just pointing out what's obvious in the source material. Ayep.
The snake was probably trying to have its own breakfast.

Date: 2005-10-07 10:52 am (UTC)f_w is so very awesome. The first few days after HBP came out were utterly priceless. That was before I got the account, so was anonymous, but it was still great fun.
And Discworld is fantastical. I love it muchly - I mean, I was reading Thud! the other day, and was all happy-squee!. OMG, Vimes! Young Sam! Mocking Da Vinci Code and Osama!
Pterry is my very favourite author.

Date: 2005-10-07 11:09 am (UTC)Ah yes. The tide of Harmonian wank. That was slightly scary. The utter bastshitness of it all was enough to make anyone boggle.
Haven't got Thud! yet. Wah, wail, etc. Getting it next week, hopefully. Pterry is inded brilliant. My bro and me reckon he's one of the greater satirists of our own world through Disworld.

Date: 2005-10-07 11:19 am (UTC)So there came Dalek love. And then, after the new lot had already started, I heard they had Daleks back. So watched, and from there was history.
Daleks got me into Who. I probably should thank them for that.
Harmonians are so beyond crazy, a new word should be defined to cope with it.
Oh, Thud! is great. If you like the Watch books, you should probably like this one. Like the recent ones, it's a bit more serious and political, but has some really great stuff in it. And Pterry truly is a spectacular satirist. You see a lot of that in Thud!

Date: 2005-10-07 11:32 am (UTC)Maybe science can start having crazy mark one, crazy mark two, crazy mark Harmonian, stand well back?
I do like the Watch books. My favourites actually, I think. "Going Postal" and "Night Watch" are both more serious books, but I don't mind it, really. The series is still evolving, part of what I love about it.
*puts Thud!getting on to do list*

Date: 2005-10-07 11:42 am (UTC)I think their cool is in the fact they look vaguely absurd, but are still so freaking deadly and dangerous.
When you reach crazy mark Harmonian, the Internet starts to go boom. It's like some scary new doomsday device.
The Watch books are fantabulous. I love Vimes, I love Ankh-Morpork (I actually have a "I <3 A-M" badge on order), and I love Vetinari, who is Teh Awesome. Night Watch has to be my very favourite, though. Yays for mysterious time-travel situations!
