My entire OFUM chapter, lost in a disc destruction. Lost a wee bit of Uni stuff too, but nothing more serious than some quotes I can look up again. Bugger. Bugger. Evil smegging disc. It can't be viewed without being formatted, but if I format it, I will lose all the existing info on it. *grumbles* Figures. I remember the outline of it all, but it sucks to have to rewrite things from memory. Blah.

In good news, finished editing my last newsstory. One more task done, one step closer to graduation. Happy weeks. Started scribbling on a serious fanfic and my take-home exam, too. And bro is finally coughing up the money he owes me (owed me since February). Wonders never end.

And am still packing and packing and packing. Mmm. Home.

i love OFUM!, i'm going to thing about the Lord of the Rings characters in a whole new way from now on :) you've made me become a gimli fan! yay gimli! :) errgh, Toey keeps attacking me, its getting really annoying... anyway, i'm sorry you lost the stuff on your disk, especially the OFUM stuff, hope you can remember everything.

Ergh. Disc destruction. I hate disc formatting. The old computer in my room has some kind of formatting/reading error. When I take a floppy disk out and put in another one, it thinks that the old disk is still in the drive, and it opens the old disk's files. I don't know where it's getting the information when the disk is no longer in the computer...

This freaked me out, once. I had a 45-page story on my disk that I thought had been written over. Luckily it was just my computer being evil.



Soo......

Does this mean that the next chapter of OFUM will be postponed? *panic*

I know just how that feels, because it happened to me a few times.

Hate to rub salt into the wound . . . but this is exactly why I save my open files to floppy when I'm done with a writing session. Plus, I back up everything of value on my hard drive every weekend, in tar.gz files. This has saved my ass more than once.

Wish I could help you. I hope you can rewrite the chapter without too much aggro.

Half-Dwarf, maybe. Would depend what side the kid took after - human or dwarf.

bummer, that sucks ass. I lost all my original fics that I had been working on since I was 15 a couple of years ago. That PISSED me off--luckily I had printouts of most, and let's face it, most was written by a 15yo, and sucked ;)

Have you tried the disk in a different puta? Sometimes that helps, if it's just being funny all of a sudden... or run an error scan/defrag on it. Can't hurt, anyhow.

Ohhhh...that's too bad. I've been waiting for it to come up. Well, at least you can try and recall all the things you wrote and maybe it will turn out better on a second draft? Eh, actually since I'm sure you, of all people, spend time after time revising and beta-ing that it's probably as good as it gets...
Sorry. I lost all of my early fanfics when my computer turned into something with the intelligence of a Cabbage Patch Doll.
