misscam: (Dawn Is Ever Hope)
Seriously, I think my body is. Damn thing seems insistent that I really should get rid of my lungs and/or large sections of the throat by coughing it up. Oh joy. That and work has really killed any sense of creativity I've had (I have two halfs of OFUM chapters written and I can't even muster up one new sentence on them. Sigh). On the plus side though, I've had two more bylines. (I'm so young I'm still counting)

Really looking forward to having these three weeks done (though it's good experience and all that), probably because I'm not going to get rid of this cold until I'm not getting up at 7 a.m to trudge through snow with cold winds sneaking in past all warm clothing. But at least with all the snow, there are no fires in Norway. Poor Australia. In a way I'm glad I'm not there, but it's not very fun watching your second country suffer so.

The LotR fandom seems to become more of a battlezone. Not just the Canon Purists versus Fangirls (which is not as black and white as that, of course) war, but across several 'groupings' as it were. Reminds me a bit of some of the spats in the X-Files fandom that I sometimes came across when reading fanfics. Seems to be a Universal law of Internet communities. The CSI fandom had a recent incident, too.

*ponders a bit* I haven't really been involved in any incidents since I started writing Voyager fanfics when I was young and dumb and a Bad Writer - not of a serious nature, anyway. I was really a moron in that one, so maybe I've unconsciously steered clear of debates that look a bit spiced ever since. Just as well, probably. I'm a git when I'm angry. I also do very stupid things at times (don't we all?) I only think there has been once I wished I was involved in an incident - and that was only because I felt terribly hurt at not being included in a group. Maybe that is why these fights so often appear - this need to belong in a community comes into conflict with the differenting views. Fandom communities are formed on some similar intrest, but a community does need more than one common ground to work. Eventually, there will be conflicts, and conflicts tend to burn like wildfires on the Internet.

Or maybe I'm just rambling. ;) I wouldn't trust my fever-fighting mind if I were you...
