Looks like the worst preidctions of the damage hurricane Katrina would do have no come to pass. Still, it has done a fair bit of it. More details here Oil prices have also been affected.
The Earth has been fairly testy of late, with hurricanes and the tsunami and earthquakes, floods and droughts and other nastiness. One can wonder how much of this is just natural temperament and how much might be human influenced. I am not an expert on these things, but I do wonder. (NORA predicts an above-normal hurricane season. Bugger.)

My doc's put me on some light sleeping pill / mild aid against depression due to my lack of sleeping well and with all the shit that has happened of late and I woke up this morning feeling like I had a huge hangover. I've never been on anything but brief antibiotics cures before and this is a rather weird new experience. But at least I did sleep.
