So, if Cam has managed to hook you on Doctor Who (as attempted in the previous entry) you'll probably be wanting fanfic. Here are some of Cam's recs and links to her fics, too.

From This Day to the Ending of the World by icebluenothing
Rated G. Set before the events of "Rose" and after the burn of Gallifrey.
A Quote:
He'd spent a stupidly long time trying to wake them up.
It was a moment of shock and madness. That was all. He tried to let go of it, to forgive himself for it, but he had done it -- knelt down by their sides and shaken them, shaken their broken and blackened bodies, screaming names into unseeing faces. It may have been days before he was willing to admit they were dead.

The Terminus of Prayer by cadhla
PG. Spoilers for "Parting of the Ways", so beware.
A Quote:
'Once upon a time' isn't a blessing; it's a curse. It's looking backwards and realizing that you were innocent and happy and dumber than a bag of bricks, and that all of that happened in 'before', and you can't go back there, it's a line that can't be crossed. Before. Before the frozen seas, and the woodcutter, and the madman, and the angels. Before she learned how to dance properly, the sort of dancing where you close your eyes and throw your arms out wide, and don't worry about who might be watching you, or what people might think, or what you're going to do tomorrow. The Doctor...Jack...

Chrysalis by sangga
Rated M. Slight smut. No real spoilers.
A Quote:
The water in the glass on the nightstand swirls into nucleic disorder. Time slows, stops, extends.
She slides a hand up his chest, and he gasps, and she hears a tiny ringing in her ears. She knows this is Brownian movement – the sound of atomic particles rubbing together.

Roundabout by Casira
PG-13. Spoilers up to "Parting of the Ways".
A Quote:
"Rose," he says, trying to stop her. Her eyes are so bright. She's not quite listening. And before the song and the drink and everything else can get to him, he lifts her up, light as flower petals, and swings her around and around until she shrieks with laughter.

Gemini Rising by A.j
PG. Set during "Rose".
A Quote:
Running full-out down the stairs after planting the detonator, he says her name in his head, and wonders how long it will be before her face blurs in his brain.

The Child That Time Made by calapine
PG. Set after "Parting of the Ways".
A Quote:
Something’s wrong, though the mid-wife declares her the mother of a healthy baby boy. She holds him close and loves him. He looks into her eyes. Bright blue, and staring at everything around him. She knows perfectly well that babies a few hours old shouldn’t be able to focus like that.

Ghost in the Machine by Rain
PG.
A Quote:
The lights flickered... and the puddle of vomit was gone.

Rose reflected that, somewhere in time and space, someone was about to get a nasty surprise.

Oi, if Mary Sue's on the next planet, I quit, Doctor by livii
PG.

Recs = Fabulous.

But, you know, you really ought to have some more [Bad username or site: iceblue nothing @ livejournal.com]'s fics.

Because Of More Value Than Many Sparrowsis just amazing beyond amazing, and My The Candle That Burns Brightest is even better. It is (to date) the only Doctor Who fanfic that has made me cry.

Oooh, thanks so much! I promised a friend that I would rec her some new Who fics, and this will be a great start. I love every single story you've mentioned here, and I'm sure she will too. Thank you!

*Elisa passes by, realizes the Cam has a new LJ lay-out and gapes*

Mamma mia! It's cool and pretty, but it feels a bit unfamiliar too me...it's weird, now that I'm surrounded by unfamiliar, French stuff I realize how much I liked your old (and more familiar ;P) lay-out!

Your LJ was one of the first places I "visited" in CSI fandom, after all...

Anyway, sorry for the totally OT comment, I promise I'll watch that Dr. Who premiere ASAP!

Oh, they're pretty good too, but I usually stick to rec'ing one story per author, and if people like that writing style, they usually go looking for more by her or him.

No fanfic has ever made me cry. I must be made of stone.

All things change, my dear. Get used to it :P *pats new shiny layout*

Hope all remains well in France despite the changes. And yay for Doctor Who watching.

*shrugs* Different preferences, I suppose. Generally, I tend to rec authgors about as often as I do fics. Usually because I have so much difficulty picking a favourite story by them...
