Yeah, I do like the allure of making your ending to things without actually contradicting Canon. probably why I wrote more Doctor/Rose before Doomsday than after.
I do tend to actually ship some pairings and some not, but on the other hand, I tend to be flexible. And also I write more to write than to ship, you know? It makes a certain difference.
