misscam: (Norway Why)
[personal profile] misscam
So yesterday I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] ligaras and had much fun. Always a bit odd to meet people you know mainly via the Net, though. I'm not used to discussing my fannish activities in real life. But fun was had and I think I kinda promised to visit her in the States when Bush was no longer president. Hmmm.

Norway still best place in the world to live for the sixth year running.

Not bad, wee little country. Not bad at all. /annoying patriotic pride

The 'Welsh-oppression' wank wanders on a bit with the OP making a post that... Well, read for yourselves. It defies any sort of description I could come up with.

And Doctor Who fandom needs new episodes before it implodes in icon wankiness or some such.

Holy entitlement, Batman!

That's quite impressive, I have to say.

About that 'entitlement' thing:

Holy cow. I think it's all well and good to want good service when you eat out (I know I do), but still, give me a break. If you get your drink after someone else, it's not the end of the world. I probably wouldn't even notice. If she has that much time to find every little fault, then she needs to re-think her life a little bit.

Nice find on that wank.

It's just the tone of her whole rant that just boggles me. I can understand feeling bitchy about service sometimes - who hasn't, after all? But that rant there is just a thing beyond.

Yeah. I think that if she came to Australia, she'd have enough material for several months' worth of blogging. She would probably go on for hours about how sometimes you have to go up and order from the counter yourself. My boyfriend agrees. She's just too much.

I am smarter, a better writer, and wittier than you. Therefore, any wank that ensues? Totally the result of your misreading.

It's too bad [livejournal.com profile] jennyo is such a self-aggrandizing, patronizing bitch. She's actually quite a good fic writer.

The 'Dangerous Relics' reminded me of something.

When I was in school, we had this cupboard full of WWII artefacts. One afternoon, the police and bomb disposal turned up - because they thought one of the artefacts was an unexploded shell that'd been sitting there in a display cabinet all this time. To this day I have no idea who suddenly realised this, or how. All I know is they took it out to our playing field and disposed of it.

Heh. I've been to Australia. Though Aussies tend to be more service-minded than Norwegians, that's for sure.

That sadly does happen sometimes. Good writing skills don't always good with good ego management skill. Which the literary world at large proves very well.

Ooops.

Yeah, people don't always consider that they might be dangerous, I think. When I was wee, my parents sometimes took me and my brother to stay at a cabin of some friends near Narvik. The place was littered with German bunkers and bro and I adored playing in them, of course. Didn't enter our minds there might be something dangerous about, but later, they did find some mines and stuff that had to be blown up.

I know I talk about Norway too much when I'm the first thing people associated with it, heh.

Um, wow. You know, I've mostly managed to avoid JennyO, but you hear things in fandom. I knew she was arrogant and conceited. But I had no idea how much. Yeesh. And she totally does not get what the problem is, does she?

Also, that restaurant entitlement thing? Sheez. Spoiled, much?

In other news, I think I need to make sure that when I take my big Europe trip (whenever that may be) that Norway is on my list to visit.

*blinks* Whoa. I think I got a case of Capslock Poisoning and Asterisk Rash from that entitlement wank...

I think the only time I ever got bitchy about a server's service and didn't leave much of a tip was when my table was largely ignored, the server was a grump when he did show up (our study abroad director even had to joke he was "having his monthly" about that), someone was charged for something she ordered but didn't receive (and she couldn't find the guy to get him to help her fix it, so she had to walk downstairs to get it fixed herself), and the server actually *ranted* at someone at our table, while the people at the next table over got good service from the same guy.

And now I just think it's funny and hope I don't run into that again, not a life-scarring thing. Sheesh...

This made me even more curious to see that little country of yours. You know, just to see what the fuss is all about. ;)

The restaurant wank is...a joke. It must be, isn't it?

I used to be a kindergarten attendant, and when we played games, we'd give all the little kids a prize so that nobody cried.

That's what I think of when jennyo declares herself the "winner of several genetic lotteries."

People sometimes tell me that I might suffer from an inferiority complex. Perhaps I'll go and ask [livejournal.com profile] jennyo whether I could borrow a bit of her self-esteem. As soon as I've stopped guffawing, that is.

Snort, I think someone needs to gently let Spring1 there know that the Emancipation Proclamation pretty much ended slavery, even in dining establisments. Honestly, I feel tremendously sorry for the Chili's and Outback workers there in New Orleans.

Norway, yay! Not only the land of MissCam, but also a Just Darned Nice Place!

All around not bad, Norway. To think, a hundred years ago or so we were about the poorest country in Europe. Times do change. Luck does too.
