Zipping off to have Important Meeting, but first, a meme to entertain me when I get home from work.

Ask me anything - something trivial, something you've always wondered, something random. I will answer, then ask you one that you have to answer.

In other news, "shoot a moose and save yourself a climate quota." Ya rly.

Funny, we keep hearing this about cows, too. (And there are far more cows than there are moose . . .) Do whales fart, I wonder?

This actually interested me more. If it doesn't cool down here soon, I may move there. Or here.

What do you think of this?

Svalbard isn't the most inviting place to live on earth, but it does have its nicer sides. That includes extra tax breaks because of its special status. Heh.

I think she's a little off her rocker - and also it's a bit dodgy that she's using her royal status for financial gain the way she is. No like.

I am considering it, given that I still have the plot outlines. If I get the break from work I might be getting, I should have some time to do some more writing - time's always an issue, sadly.

Tromsø, Norway. It's still the town I think of as home, has the football team I support, and with the way oil exploration is going, it will be a lot of economic activity. Also, midnight sun and northern lights.

hmmm...well, i suppose it would have to be either the american party (extremely, extremely conservative; as in "opposes federal involvement in education, supports abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency, supports repeal of NAFTA, opposes minimum wage laws, opposes land use zoning regulations and opposes convening a Constitutional convention," along with other traditional conservative policies)or the american nazi party. i'm all for free speech and what not, but is a nazi party really necessary?

a (largley)two party system has plenty of drawbacks; getting rid of either the dems or the GOP,however, has the potential a vacuum of an unpleasant variety or backlash of all kinds.

Oh, The Brothers Lionheart is a favourite of mine, too. I think it appeals both to my penchance for fairy-tale-style children's fantasy with its delightful setting and to my moralist tendencies with its message of non-violent heroism. And its ending still made me cry when I was at least eighteen. Ahem.

The concept of book-burning per se makes me twitchy, but if I could wish one out of existence to get back the hours of my life I spent on reading it, it would be The Time-Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Not because it was badly written (I think I've read my fair share of far, far worse prose over the years), but just because every single character was so bloody full of him-/herself while the narrative voice was constantly emphasizing how romantic and tragic and talented and unconventional and doomed they all were. In the end, I was waiting for some Daleks to fall out of a rip in the fabric of time and kill them all.
