Pick your poison!

Give the summary of a fic you wish someone would have written yesterday already.

Never know, the Universe might help you out...

Because I was tagged by three different people -List ten things that made you happy recently. And tag ten people to repost.

1. My team doing well in football.
2. Getting a gift bagel.
3. Having a story of mine rec'ed.
4. My cat sleeping in my bed yesterday.
5. The work review I got on Monday - and pay rise.
6. My new computer screen - flat and shiny.
7. Downing High Astromancer Solarian.
8. CSI - yeah, I know. Shocker, innit?
9. Actually getting The Daily Show daily in Norway too.
10. Getting incons made for me.

I tag (at random) [livejournal.com profile] cincoflex, [livejournal.com profile] nymeria, [livejournal.com profile] queen_midget, [livejournal.com profile] falena84, [livejournal.com profile] jvgymnast, [livejournal.com profile] mirrie, [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly, [livejournal.com profile] liptonrm, [livejournal.com profile] renn & [livejournal.com profile] unendingreverie.

Two + seven icons explained, as asked by [livejournal.com profile] dreamingwriter and Someone I Forgot Because I Suck.

Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] dreamingwriter, could only see two of the icons you've picked for me to explain. Ooops? Well, here's those two, at least.

It's a quote of Cæsar's in Rome (the HBO show) and made by [livejournal.com profile] hadria. I rather love it for it for the simple truth - after all, hubris is judged by failures. Sucess is just confidence.

Quote from The Weakest Link, the Doctor Who special as made by [livejournal.com profile] atellix. (Which was a hoot.) Ann Robinson does mean so well, and this is my default icon for whenever my mind predictably goes wandering.

Sorry, Person Whose Name Escapes My Mind - I do have a brain made of mush. But here's seven icons explained still.

Aha, yes. A while back in Doctor Who fandom there was a whole big issue over pink icons (don't ask) and not pink icons and yes, well. I don't particulary like pink as a colour, but [livejournal.com profile] nostalgia_lj made this one for me and it just seemed to fit me too well not to use. Yes, I do talk too much about my own country. Yes, I still ship them.

A World of Warcraft icon made by [livejournal.com profile] lookslikerain. Basically, PvP means player versus player, which means... Yes, slaughter. In WoW, you often work with other players, but when pvp happens, it's all about working on other players.

Made by [livejournal.com profile] oceandreams33, this one is from Silk Stalkings, a show I really, really liked when I was in my teen. The two people in this icon are Rita and Chris, my one and only ever actual OTP. The show did bring them together - the knocked her up and killed him. I have not OTPed since. Now I ship PPP - personal preference pairing.
They were the cutest, though.

This is the icon alluding to my sad, sad hobby of reading badfic for fun. Possibly for the same reason I sometimes watch shows on Discovery about natural disasters. You just want to see how bad it can get. [livejournal.com profile] kellslawells made it.

[livejournal.com profile] nenya_kanadka made this one for me. I forget exactly how the phrase came about, but I think it was [livejournal.com profile] nostalgia_lj saying it to me when I was having an angst at some point. I later used it as a post title and got gifted this icon :)

One of many smashing ones [livejournal.com profile] fondued_jicama made specifically for me. As we're often told everyone has a soulmate, I decided it only made sense that we would then also have a soulnemesis. Mine's George Bush. Of course.

Hehehe. [livejournal.com profile] csinut214 gifted me this one - could have something to do with my CSI wankimplosion posts. Just a hunch.

Comment with "iconsess, preciouss!" and I'll pick seven of yours to explain.

Post the first lines of fic you are yet to finish.

AU Rose-falls-into-the-Void thing:
There comes a point where the the brain just lets go. Life stops being interactive and becomes a movie, scenes just running without commentary. There is nothing left to say.

It all came out as screams, anyway.

Only the Lost, post-Doomsday:
It is a house.

Blue, wooden, curtains visible through glass, grass tracing a garden. A house. It's only the sky that is nothing. Not darkness. Darkness is something. This is just void. House in a void, and Rose and the Doctor, hand in hand, watching.

"You wanted a house," he says, looking down at her, a lock of hair falling across his forehead. She can't read his face, but his eyes are full of stars.

"Yes," she agrees, because she did. Of sorts. "Is it bigger on the inside?"

"You know me."

Does she, she wonders, and when he leans down and kisses her, she's pretty sure she doesn't. Not this Doctor. Not devoid of fear and restraint and seemingly so full of, well, tongue right now.

Rose's Claim:
It was said when they found her, blood clung to her blonde hair and madness fought stars in her eyes.

"They all died," she kept repeating. "Fire. Fire, like a star burning with people. His people. They all died."

Mad ramblings, people understood. Though witches had been brushed off as superstition by the church a long time ago, many still thought the word and all that went with it.

Unnamed Doctor Who crackfic:
In the place of time and space that was the essence of the Doctor, a pool party was in progress.

Unnamed Doctor Who story:
Once upon a time, there was...

No.

'Once upon a time' is a human beginning. Something humans tell each other. As they would, living upon time, rather than in it. Knowing only the path of past to present to future. Knowing only the time they have, and having crystal balls and fairytales to tell what was ahead, and history to tell what had gone before.

But history is still story, and stories can be told in many ways. This isn't a human story. It's just a story about humans.

All the Way to Easter:
Boxing Day, Rose wakes to find the Doctor in her room, watching the pink walls with a sort of fascination she thinks more appropriate for alien planet. Then again, this is his alien planet. It's easy to forget, especially when he's put his pink paper crown back on and looks so the part of silly human.

Maybe he's surveying his pink kingdom, she considers, and wanted the proper attire.

"Hey!" she says brightly, a little more brightly than intended and it sounds a little jarring in own ears. He doesn't seem to notice, or at least makes no point of it. It's hard to say if his reactions are still the same - one body ago, she certainly wouldn't have expected him to spend Christmas dinner with the Tylers.

Until Life Do s Part, GSR fic:
What is past is memories and is often stronger there.

Complicating Simplicity, GSR fic:
Let's talk about simple.

Sara Sidle met Gil Grissom. It was a sunny, bright day in San Fransisco, catching her hair and filling his eyes. She asked; he answered. But that was only half what was said, the rest in shy smiles, awkward pauses, glances meeting and bodies moving.

He liked her. She liked him. She could tell he liked her. He couldn't tell she liked him. For all his brains and smarts, Gilbert Grissom was also an idiot.

That's all right. She'll come to like that too.

Unnamed Doctor/Martha fic:
Once upon a time there was a young woman who went to the moon, saved the kingdom and won the alien. Sort of.

A Bit Correctly, GSR fic:
These are the things Grissom and Sara didn't quite get wrong.

Brass fic:
You can't predict a murder. It can come from the most innocent-looking meek human, from a perfect marriage, from an untroubled family, from the rich man's son with everything.

But most of the time it comes from a good bet. The troubled teen. The drug-addicted desperado. The jealous ex. The drunk driver. You can't predict murder. But you can judge the odds.

Brass is watching a murder-to-come in the row next to his. A plane across the Atlantic, a couple with all too telling signs. She's afraid, he's dominating. He has no guilt, she has bruises. She's avoiding gazes, he's challenging onlookers. He's abusive, she's afraid.

It won't end there.

Unnamed how-various-CSIs-almost-slept-with-each-other thing:
"You want me," Grissom says carefully, placing the wine glass back on the table, "to tell you about sleeping with Catherine?"

"Yes," Sara says firmly, taking a drink of her own and looking utterly calm and without any hints of jealousy. He isn't sure if she's faking it, or if this is another little change after her near-death experience or if she's always been so and he's just never looked.

What do you think are the quote-unquote "trademarks" of the fiction and essays that I write? What type of themes or characterization notes or quirks keep on manifesting in my writing? Essentially, what do you think is a stereotypically "my" way of writing?

...

And that should cover memes for a while, no?

Iconsess, preciouss! If I even *have* seven to explain. I may just have six. Just pick however many you want.

iconsess, preciouss! And now I really, really want to read that Martha fic. And all the others. PPP is a good idea, I'll start using that from now on.

Hmm. Your trademark writing style. I'd say your characters all philosophize while snogging. Well, not all the time. But you have them snog, which is always fun to read, and then toss out a universal (or fandom-ly relative) truth, which makes it even better.

That and sinking. Male or female "sinking" onto each other is classic Cam pr0n =DDD

Hmmm, classic MissCam fic is usually in the present tense, and involves one or more character's POV, with intense emotion being filtered through the dialog.

Er... iconsess, preciouss!

I've done that meme before, but it'll be interesting if you pick the same ones. I do have many to chose from. If you do ask for ones Ive said before, I'll let you know.

I'm also going to do that 'first lines from unfinished fics' meme sometime soon.

Trademarks of your fics? I don't think I've read enough of them to be able to determine that, I'm sorry to say. All I know is that the ones I have read are of a higher quality than most fics that are out there. Also that you can be counted on to deliver senseable sex scenes and an you have an over-all lovely style.

*fluffs your ego*

*huggles*

All the cool stuff around it...is it sad that I really *really* REALLY want to read this one?
