misscam: (Old Friends)

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself? Any old thing at all, the more trivial and fascinating, the better. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they enjoy nose-picking on balmy summer evenings, and have a giant birthmark shaped like a wildebeest on their right buttock."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

I am a curious cat. Please me :P

Cute idea!

Anyway: I don't eat eggs. Scrambled, sunny side-up, any. It grosses me out. Even the smell of eggs turn me off. I've been dared many times to try it, but I can't bring myself to, because it's so gross.

I'm a writer by profession, a motor racing nut by inclination, and I've been with my partner for 26 years, but we only got civil partnered this year.

I like to read, write, swim, ski, cook, watch films and take photos...

Oh, and I'm European not British to my way of thinking.

I made a pretty blue pretend-pearl necklace today. :)

I'm going to wear it on Friday, and sing.

Even 12 years after the fact that we were supposed to memorize it, I can still recall the first portion(off the top of my head it's the first two stanzas)of the Canterbury Tales in Middle English perfectly.

Aside from FAR too much time on the internet I knit, a lot when I can. Socks, afghans, doll clothing, dish rags, a couple sweaters. And when the snow starts to fly the desire to do it multiplies by like, 1,000 or something.

I'm an astrophysics student and one of my dearest ambitions is to be an absent-minded research scientist (got the absent-minded part already, so I'm halfway there). I like making origami, and I love sloths (lots).

I burned my shoulder at the age of five pretending to be Gandalf chasing off Wargs in "The Hobbit," which I'd just finished reading.

When I was little, I used to go after people saying 'tell me a story tell me a story tell me a story' and wouldn't shut up until I got my story, damnit. Then people started avoiding me, lol, and I learned to read only so I could tell myself stories. :)

I study English and am known to my friends/teachers/tutors as a great reader, but I would prefer sitting down with a good fanfic, a young adult fantasy novel or a cheesy Mills and Boon romance over a piece of 'literature', any day.

I am the only one of the children of my family that goes by their first name, my 3 siblings are known not just by their middle names but a nickname of their middle name (James Anothony is Tony, Loretta Kathleen is Kathy, Richard Gregory is Greg).

I friended you because I was told you had a witty and smart LJ. They were right. I love the things you write even if I don't respond very often.

Okay, something about myself. How about a couple of things: I'm an EMT and drive an ambulance for a living. I've also been married for 25 years to a man who is 30 years older than me.

My two new fandom loves these days are Bleach and FMA mangas. They are addictive and quite brilliant. Bleach is crack on stilts. FMA (Full Metal Alchemist) is just a really good story very well told.

Good to see you about. *huggles* I is about, but have little to no time to keep up to date with my flist for the most part. :(

My family on my mother's side used to own a small chocolate & coffee factory until they sold it thirty years ago. So I could be the heir of a chocolate factory, but alas, I am not.

My taste in alcohol tends to lead me to sweet and sticky drinks: cocktails with lots of cream, Barcadi Breezer, Pimm's, mead, spiced wine, dessert wines... My beer-drinking brothers and wine-drinking friends call that atrocious.

I'm being stalked by Dame Maggie Smith on the celestial plane. No. Seriously.

Nobody believes me at first, but the evidence which has built up over the years is hard to ignore. Any film I buy will have her in it, even if there's no earthly reason for her to be there and she's not credited on the box. If I fall for a character in a novel, she will be played by Maggie Smith, or Maggie Smith will appear somewhere in the movie adaptation. If I open a newspaper, there will be an article about Maggie Smith in it. If a movie is filmed anywhere in the countryside around here, as has happened twice since I've been here, Maggie Smith will be cast.

This has been going on for several years. Matters became distinctly surreal when I signed up for an IMDB account this year and, out of the millions of movie titles and actors it could have been, guess whose name was featured in my Captcha bot-proofing box?

This might all seem preposterous and stupid as a comment, but one day on the news there'll be a big story about how a young woman was murdered in her bed, and police are questioning a well-known septagenarian British actress. And you'll go "Hey! I know that chick from the internet!"

Hi! *waves*

Erm.... something about me... i'm about to bake a bajillion cookies with my friend. I love baking in general, and I'm majoring in food marketing, so that all works well :)

Also, I was a vegetarian from the time I was 3 until last winter. Good times. :)

I am a Norwegian transplant in the US (14 years) and a vegetarian trying to 'Norwegianize' this Christmas with the help of Glogg and havreflarn, Dajm and lingonberries - bought at IKEA a few weeks ago. And I apparently write long sentences.

-God Jul!

:-)

Well, I went to school for both writing and art education, but am now leaning towards a career as a cake decorator. This is frightening to me, mostly because I don't see cake decorating as being a "real" job that one can make a living out of. But I love doing it and I'm really good at it, and when I think of my future I keep thinking cakes.

The roles have reversed with my husband and I in that respect. He'd gone through life not knowing the one thing he'd want to do for a career and I always had the plan, and now things are quite the opposite.

I have got to ask what fandom that is!

In return, I offer the factoid that my smallest fandom was about a dozen people - Real Ghostbusters.

It's Angels Unlimited/Agent Angel, about a girl who dies and becomes an ass-kicking celestial agent.

It sounds so preachy, but it's not. XD It never even mentions a monotheistic God--the emphasis is all on the historical periods she goes to, philosophy and her relationships. And there's a really hot supporting character...
