Bye-bye 2007, hello 2008. W/many summaries
Jan. 2nd, 2008 12:14 pmHappy 2008!
So, Christmas and the holidays.
- Brother and girlfriend came on a visit from the Netherlands. A lot of English was spoken. My Doctor Who DVDs were shamelessly nicked, since bro wanted to show it to his gf. They must have enjoyed, as they went through series one and two both.
- No snow before Christmas Eve, but extremely cold, making the whole country rather frost-clad. Then in two hours on the day, it all rains away. WOE. Snows again Christmas Day, rains again two days later. Snowed again last night and is staying so far. Weathergods decidedly untrustworthy.
- Gifts recieved included iPod, leather satchel, clothes, new winter boots, several books, Pop-Tarts, suitcase, a dresser, an alarm clock w/radio, gems and from myself to myself - a new computer. It is very shiny and fast and has hateful Vista on it. But I intend to master it, if with a lot of cursing.
- Too much good food. Ai.
- Weird dreams abounded, including one where I dream I overslept and then that my oversleeping was a bad dream introduced by nightmare creatures I then had to kill. Okay then.
- Big bangs at New Year, since it might be for the last time. Bah.
And of course, punishment for all that time off is the pile of papers that waited for me at work today. Oi. To add to it, I get plot bunnies while working and not when I got time off, oh no. Hmpf brain.
And now, the meme that killed 2007:
Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2007 (not including memes of course). Post the first line(s)/sentence(s) of it in your journal, and that's your "Year in Review".
January:
So
lotus79 kinda reminded me I should probably let people know I'm still alive.
(Ah, when I first got hooked on WoW.)
February:
So apparently I'm all amoral and untrustworthy and stuff.
('Atheists are amoral' wank. Heh.)
March:
Lalala. So I am writing a bit inbetween work and WoW, honest! See!
(Another 'I feel bad I haven't finished a fic lately' post.)
April:
Smith and Jones. Nothing groundbreaking, really, but it filled me with love and squee and just joy.
(That was before there was wank, obviously.)
May:
“(wherein Cam talks about a Ten/Martha dream, May in Norway, summer, work, labs and World of Warcraft. With football mentions)”
(Phone post, heh.)
June:
Adult activities occuring below. Hurrah!
(Quite.)
July:
You're going to implode, aren't you?
(Doctor Who fandom. And yes, it did.)
August:
Please remind me why fandom is awesome.
(I sense I'd headdesk'ed at one too many wanks.)
September:
Silliest post ever - but here goes.
(WoW geekery knows no bounds.)
October:
CamDad: Blah blah not work.
misscam: So you have half a year paid leave off work? [Slight envy might be detectable.]
(Conversations with CamDad on public transport.)
November:
So, it's November. Time to be all organised about Christmas and stuff.
December:
To not deal with fandom at all, this post is exclusively about World of Warcraft. Yes, I know. I'm a horrid geek.
Fanfics in summary.
Doctor Who:
Like Fireflies (Doctor/Rose)
Improbably Into Forever(Doctor/Rose)
Left To Do (Doctor/Rose)
What Other Word (Doctor/Rose)

Date: 2008-01-02 01:52 pm (UTC)Vista is truly terrible. I have never had as many issues with an operating system before (I mean, except for Windows ME, but I like to pretend that that entire fiasco never happened).

Date: 2008-01-02 02:02 pm (UTC)I've only had Vista a few days and I'm already having violent fantasies involving it and Sharp Point Objects attached to Hard Blunt Objects. ARGH.

Date: 2008-01-03 04:10 am (UTC)Year of vast personal changes for me. Pretty good for me, terrible for my friends. I failed to get a steady job in PC tech as I'd hoped, but got several temporary jobs.
Unfortunately, many of my dearest flist members and an offline friend had really, really bad problems in 2007. I've had to give emotional support (and advice, where I could) a great deal on AIM and the phone.
And I still mourn that Wow has taken you away from me. ;-)
