Accomplishments of May 1st:
- Cleaned and vacuumed the house. Found old pictures of young!self, very scary.
- Finished another BSG fic (yay, is sent to beta) and actually had an idea for Doctor Who one that could be fun to do. (Would include Rose/young!One, Rose/Martha, pregnancy, alt!UNIT awesomeness and Time Lady-ness. Hah.)
- Further perverted [livejournal.com profile] falena84. Muhahaha.
- Handed in the tax return.
- Made football date with mum for Sunday. Her team is playing a local one, should be awesome.

I love lazy days off.

In various links that caught my interest:

The island of Lesbos are to go to court in an attempt to stop a gay rights organisation from using the term "lesbian".

...

*blinkblink* This is May 1st, not April 1st, right?

American Idol has issues?

Hmm. I never caught the Idol craze, Norwegian or American version. About the only Idol preformer I think I like is Kurt, who won Norway's first. I like his voice. The rest, I just ignore.

Am I weird?

Clean your keyboards!

Microbiologist Dr Peter Wilson said a keyboard was often "a reflection of what is in your nose and in your gut".

Looooovely.

Italians after the outgoing government published every Italian's declared earnings and tax contributions on the internet.

This is something that's done every year in Norway, actually. I'm not hughly bothered. There are worse things to release publically, really.

Off to raid Black Temple. Muhahaha!

You're the first person I have seen who has an icon of that hot-hot-hot Mulder/Scully photo. Just sayin'! ;)

You know, I can't help thinking they should have thought of that sooner... Of course the more cynical side of my brain is thinking "publicity stunt" and "saves the tourist board money" and a variety of other things like that...

In fairness, this is the first Greek group to use the term "lesbian" in its group name. It's possible they just never saw it as an issue before.

Some Lesbians are men! It's true!

. . . okay, it probably says something very bad about me that I find this funny, but language quirks do that to me.

The word lesbian derives from the island anyway right? Those two women lovers were said to have lived there. First recorded lesbians and all that? Or am I just totally confused?

I thought the same thing. What was stopping them from doing this sooner?

I have never actually watched American Idol (though I did see X-Factor once), and I fail to understand why it's so popular.

The don't-release-my-personal-info-omg?

And that's an excellent way to make peace, yes. Though not as good as sex.

Nope. The those-who-have-nothing-to-hide-shouldn't-feel-uncomfortable side. And I quoted Finland as an example, but maybe I was mixing it up with Norway. I remember distinctly reading (or being told) this sort of public release of info is standard practice, somewhere up north. Not in a nation of tax-evaders, anyway. :P

Actually, um, there was sex. The BSG-watching was postponed. *g* We're about to start.

We might both be doing it, heh. The Nordic countries tend to have a lot of similar practices.

Thanks for sharing your sex-life with my flist :P Enjoy your episode - I've killed a BT boss, muhahaha.

The poet Sappho came from Lesbos, wrote love poems to women, was highly famous as an early Greek poet and was widely read for millennia before scandalizing Christians and being discarded for paganism and amorality and stuff.

Ew, keyboards = nasty. I inherited one at work from the person who sat at my desk previously, and I don't even want to NAME the stuff which fell out of it when I cleaned it. (OK, I'll name one thing. A FINGERNAIL)

"American Idol" is all about the shenanigans.
