Hot weekend. Cloudy, windy Monday. Figures. Even the weather hates a Monday. So does our servers, which crashed today at work. Smashing. And my bike's got a flat tire and my team lost their match.

BAH MONDAYS.

In them fandom notes:

- If someone doesn't offer shiny, shiny 'The Hub' icons very soon, I might have to bribe someone to do it. My love of icons is fannishly sad, and my love of that BSG ep even more so. Why you deny me the matching, Internets? I have no patience. Shut up.

- I am writing Five Visions of Death Laura Didn't Have, and One Life She Just Had, which involves Richard Adar showing her Bill/Laura angry!sex as part of the dying Caprica resistance, Billy showing her dying a martyr and where that leads, her mother showing her dying on Earth, two others I haven't thought of yet and of course, the life having a raptor!sex segment. My mind is so predictable.

- I need to stop rewatching that episode. For serious.

- With all this baluba already, are you going to have energy for the finale, Doctor Who fandom? Or maybe this is just warm-up for Wankimplosion: TARDIS Take after the finale. I has fear for the kind of modding we'll have to do at T&C. Fear, I tell you.

- Speaking of modding - you know, getting bitched at for various mod decisions one makes, that's bound to happen. But last week I got a new one by being bitched out for something the mods actually hadn't done. (Not as in something we'd failed to do, but actually being accused of having done something we hadn't.) I'm not sure if I should laugh or get pissy.

- I still haven't made my mind up if I'm excited for Rose's return, fearing of it or even not really wanting it. Hmm. I should probably decide soon, given that it's actually about to happen. If not for fandom, I think I might enjoy seeing her kickass, but given all the blah... Ich, I don't know.

- Say what, Supernatural? I don't even watch the show, but there's something strangely entertainingly batshit about some of the Supernatural wankery. Sorry, SPN fans on my flist!

- In Norway, it ain't summer unless TV2 airs episodes of some probably-long-forgotten-in-the-US show called Pacific Blue, about hot biking cops. Last year they didn't. There was outrage. And bad weather. This year the show's back. The weather is smashing. I suspect our weathergods just like to drool them hot cops.

In the news:

Clinton steps down, Obama praises her, Cam is just tired of the whole thing.

I know a lot on my flist care, and I do think McCain versus Obama can be an important choice, I just wish I could tune it all out for like three months and find some energy to care. Overkill, media. Plus, American way of politicing tend to make me tired even on a good day.

The Vatican goes football-mad too.

Just in case you forgot in these Euro days that football? SERIOUS BUSINESS. Like religion, not just in a way.

In the Euro:

- Austria and Switzerland loses. Aww, home team advantage not working. Germany is the only team that have sort of impressed me so far, though. Tonight, it's time for Holland to kick Italian ass.

Whatcha all up to this Monday, then?

Tonight, it's time for Holland to kick Italian ass.

Normally, I'd beg to differ. But considering the way our team played even before Cannavaro got injured, I'm afraid you might be right...

I just don't like the Italian team. Sorry, Italians. It's just the way you always knock out the teams I am cheering. It makes Cam a sad moose.

I am capable of changing my mind if you play truly awesome, though.

I still haven't made my mind up if I'm excited for Rose's return, fearing of it or even not really wanting it.

Me, too. I want to be excited that she's coming back, I really do. But I fear what RTD has in store for she and the Doctor during these episodes, and what it's going to do to fandom. It could be great, it could be scary, or it could be Doomsday all over again.

*nods head* So far SPN has had a major wank per week. It's running like HP fandom's worst wanks on crack, dude.

This Monday I am trying not to die as the heat and humidity attempt to suck my soul right out of my body.

I second the call for Hub icons! XD

That fic? Sounds AWESOME. Soon please?!

I am also worried about DW fandom. I think I've been subconsciously distancing myself from it recently tbh. I haven't seen last week's yet either, must do that... As for Rose, part of me knows I should fear it because of what it'll most likely do to the fandom, and how it might totally screw everything up and probably won't live up to my expectations but I just love Rose SO MUCH that I am flailing my ass off already and I can't help it. *fail*

Your new, shiny, honeymoon-esque love affair with BSG seriously makes me smile. :D It's not a show I feel fannish about, but you MAKE me want to be fannish about it so I can share in the love.

I am equal parts dreading and looking forward to Rose's return. I want her to kick ass and take names and leave of her own accord to continue kicking ass and taking names in her universe. But I know if it's too TRU LOVE 4EVA (or like, not "enough" TRU LOVE 4EVA) the wank is going to spray hard from both sides omg.

I do not envy you with [livejournal.com profile] time_and_chips. <3

Erk, not Doomsday 2.0. Especially with the bad Norwegian, sheesh! But I do think it's bound to end with another seperation of some kind. I just hope it's one that won't make fandom go bananas on either side.

Ah well, we shall see.

This an hiatus thing, or are you always this nuts? :P For an outside, it is sorta entertaining, but I imagine having it in your own fandom is totally exhausting.

This Monday I am trying not to die as the heat and humidity attempt to suck my soul right out of my body.

I feel you there.

We must await our talented graphic overlords, I guess ;)

I wrote 1/5th or there abouts of the story today. We shall see how much time I get for it, I guess. But given my mad BSG drive at the moment, I'm sure it'll pop up soon enough. And then there's hiatus to cover.

All the power to you if you don't let fandom overpower your own feelings. I wish I could do that. Fingers crossed it goes well, eh?

There's a lot of general nuttiness but it seems that this summer is devoted to taking the crazy to the max. And it's plenty exhausting to be around it when people you kind of like are at odds against each other. But it's ridiculously extreme and I have so many better things to worry about like the fact that I nearly melted when I walked out of my office. This is not on.

This heat is such a killer. I'm dreading my commute already.

ETA: but yeah watching SPN from the sidelines must be an interesting perspective. Heh.

Aww. Yeah, it really is a honeymoon. Reminds me very strongly of my first mad love for Doctor Who, really. Pretty much the same sort of mad devouring of material, much writing and general yay. I sense a fannish pattern, I do.

Funny what drives one fannish and what don't - there's plenty of shows I like and watch I just don't feel fannish about. Brains be weird.

There was wank even over promos, so yeah, I think it's guaranteed that the finale will disappoint at least one segment of fandom and then we'll have it.

:P You all better be ready to support me with alcohol, is all I'm saying.

Awesome!! Can't wait to read it! :D

Definitely fingers crossed. I may just ignore all fandom aside from the people on my flist if it all goes to hell. lol.

Been there, done that. It gets especially troublesome when neither side acknowledges the other even has a point, and just widening the rift until it's vendettas and mortal fannish enemies. Ugh.

I remember Australian summers. Erm, I send you cool Artic thoughts? We thankfully got a wind today that toned down some of our heat.

ETA: It's rather like watching two people argue on a soap in a language you can't understand. With the subtitles falling out at the times. You wonder what the hell they're on about, and when they're going to sleep with the brother.

God, that first bloom of fannish love is SO MUCH FUN. It's like... every song that comes on the radio reminds you of it, and you devour fic and vids and whatever else like someone is going to TAKE IT AWAY FROM YOU.

I have over 700 links in my del.icio.us, which I got about three days before I watched SGA for the first time, and I think fully 1/3 of those links were saved in the first month after I watched. :))

And yeah, the whole fannish v. non-fannish is a very weird thing. It's interesting what pings that response in different people...what makes a certain person go OMG MORE MORE MORE! while someone else is like "Yeah, I set the DVR and watch religiously, but that's it."

There was wank even over promos, so yeah, I think it's guaranteed that the finale will disappoint at least one segment of fandom and then we'll have it.

It's going to be scary, but most likely also hilarious. :D

It's too bad work gets in the way of all my wanting to write fanfic. I got like a million fics in my head. But oh well, money is shiny and necessary, at least until the sloths take over.

Sounds like a wise plan. I'm just going to get drunk, I think. Huzzah.

Mmm, yeah the Doctor Who stuff isn't nearly as...bad in a way? I think the issue is that Supernatural is too closely connected to the actors/crew/writers so they know a LOT of the things that go down in the SPN world (and vice-versa) and it leads to uncomfortable wanks. Oh mortal fannish enemies. How I don't enjoy it at all.

I will take your cool Artic thoughts. And the blessed air conditioning finally working properly in my office.

Re your ETA:

I am resisting commenting inappropriately about the "when they're going to sleep with the brother" remark considering Supernatural's main (and often? only) pairing is Sam/Dean. Ahahaha.

And man, SPN fandom is so a telenovela. That's brillaint.

Also, thanks for the postcard! The fiords of Norway are impressive, to which I believe Douglas Adams would agree. ^_^

YEES. Obviously, you can't stay that intense about it forever, but that first bit is awesome and lovely and can fuel years of continued love after.

You can tell how much the show has eaten my brain just by how many icons I've started to give it. And also, I am building del.icio.us mainly for it. I might be slower at adding links, but getting there!

Yeah, it's odd that. I mean, I watch Criminal Minds and like it, but it would never occur to be to go fannish about it. But some people on my flist are totally in mad fannish flail for it, like I am for BSG.

My choices of what I go fannish about is a lot tied to what I want to write about, though. Because my main fannish thing tends to be to write fanfic.

Beer is a good start, but this level of potential wank might require emergency vodka and tequila, I fear.

LMAO. Good luck with that! XD

(RE: DW. I hadn't even considered how they're gonna write Rose back OUT of the show. Shit. I haven't recovered from the emotional trauma of Doomsday yet. This show is gonna be the death of me, I swear....)

Bah Mondays seconded. I fail at Mondays. Thank goodness it's Tuesday now.

Still need two deaths? How about a senseless death, or an assassination? Or suicide, though she's not the type--but maybe she can finally do something she can't live with. Also, Raptor!sex is always worth it. Even if I'd prefer a different couple in there. ;)

I totally know what you mean about new fandoms. Infatuation, 100%. I have to say, I'm not sure if I want it to fade or not, cos on the one hand, it's making me crazy and distracted. On the other, well, I am full of squee. And it's been a while.

Tonight, it's time for Holland to kick Italian ass.

Yeah baby! Totally not still sore about the World Cup. Nuh-uh!

I was aware of the Wincest fascination when I wrote that line :P

That does make a certain sense, though. If fans get very close to the fannish material, sense of entitlement can more easily get fueled. And so can the feeling of being 'speshul' fan.

Doctor Who wank has some of the same at times, but yeah... Not nearly as bad. The size of fandom probably plays a part as well.

Hard work, taking over the world. The sloths might have to make someone do it for them.

I got a vague idea for one more death, but an assassination could very interesting indeed. Ponder, ponder.

Us and our hardly-ever-shared ships, huh?

It's been a while indeed, so I wouldn't mind if it last a while.

And hey, Italy lost! Holland kicked their ass 3-0. It was supreme. I am still sore as well. Boo!

'm going to remain sore about it to the moment if and when we kick Portugal's sorry backside.

Okay, so that 3-0 was totally supreme. 1) We kicked World Champion ass. 2) We hadn't defeated Italy in like 3 whole frigging decades. 3) Italy had never lost a Euro match by 3 points before.

But seriously... Netherlands-France? MADE OF WIN.

For a good while I thought Kuyt's headshot was gonna be like the best goal of the match. Then came Henry, and the Dutch were all...

"Okay, so you scored, so what? So can we."

Robben, like... 40 seconds after Henry to make it 3-1? PRICELESS. I want his babies omfg.

I swear they were still showing reruns of Henry's shot until about 5 seconds before Robben scored, then they made a ninja switch. LMFAO.

Sneijder's shot was, of course, complete overkill. But 4-1? Ahahahaha. Made of awesome.
