misscam: (Family the BSG way)

Monday morning curse strikes again!

- I wake up, and my entire neighbourhood is without electricity. I don't know when it went out, but it wasn't back on when I left. Brushing your teeth and getting dressed in the dark - interesting, yes. It better be back when I get home, or I'm going to have to kill a bitch circuit.
- Total shit weather with rain and wind and me biking down to the train station. Then it turned sunny. Then it poured down sideways. Then it was sunny again. Then it rained. Make up your annoying mind, weathergods!
- At work, the phone lines are down and have been since Friday, apparently. It's fixed now, but has lead to blacklog of work.
- George Carlin died. :(

Mondays should be banned. Why has not the UN adressed this vital question of basic human right yet?

On the bright side, brother and his gf showed up for their two weeks visit last night. I've taken next week off to hang out with them, and they plan to spend this week catching up on my DVD collection, apparently. First is Doctor Who series three, about which my brother and I had the following conversation:

CamBro: [Indicating the cover] That's the new chick?
Me: Yeah. Martha.
CamBro: [to his gf] We have to hate her.
Me: Whut?
CamBro: Isn't that what you do to companions? Everyone at work hates Billie Piper. Very strongly.
Me: [Thinking of fandom] Well, opinions on her tend to run very strongly in either love or hate direction.
CamBro: Mmm. [Indicates the Master] That another companion?
Me: ... I wouldn't call him exactly that, no. That's the Master.
CamBro: Ah! Plotpoint!
Me: With a vengeance.

More opinions will follow, I'm sure. Up after Doctor Who is BSG, which I am determined to make him like, even if he's in it just to ogle hot robots.

Speaking of BSG, I am pondering what to write next (lastest is with beta at the moment) - anyone got any vague requests? Adama/Roslin bent is probably most likely to hit it off with me.

Speaking of fanfic, I got a PM from ff.net yesterday, which went Hey, I really enjoyed "Womb Of Sky And Skin." It was really good. What are you going to work on next? Write me soon. She then sent me almost the exact same message about two other CSI stories as well and I'm left going bwhuh? a bit. Not to mention I haven't written CSI in so long, so send a polite 'nowadays-I-write-BSG-sorry-except-not-because-BSG-is-awesome' reply, I guess.

Finally - Yay, Spain beat Italy. Awww, first time since 1920. Sorry Italians on my flist, but the football Italy was playing hurt me in the heart to watch. (Faking injury when Spain has a chance to go for the Italian goal? Uncool! The Spanish players played the ball out so the fake!injury could get treated, but I almost wish they hadn't. That sort of thing shouldn't be rewarded.)

Quote of the day that amused me: "The world moves forward. It has nowhere else to go."

Monday cursed for you, o flist, or are you having better luck than me?

I agree. Thankfully, my school is taking a step in this direction and has taken it upon themselves to never hold Monday classes.

I heartily approve of this kind of progressive action.

Too early to tell yet -- I just woke up. :-)

I was on Shaiya, an MMORPG, when I heard the bad news about George Carlin. Strange way to learn. He's gonna be missed.

*laughs* Um. So far, my Monday has been questionable. Was woken up at 9am by the Parcel Force guy... with an ARC of Lois McMaster Bujold's latest book for me, special delivery. Bad, then good. I've been reading it since I got it, more or less... almost finished my first go-through... but I walked into a lamppost while I had my head stuck in it, it's so good. Good, then bad, then good again? And I get to pick up Laura tonight, with a new external casing, so... yes, I think the word is YAY! for my Monday. Overall. ♥ *huggles you*

As for fic... well... Adama/Roslin being caught kissing (or more, you decide) prior to Sine Qua Non by someone who isn't part of their inner circle... Gaeta maybe? I wouldn't mind seeing that. *grin*

Thank you for bringing up this vital issue! I so heartily agree with this sentiment. Now why can't the rest of the world get on the same page with us? I would much prefer to have Mondays off of school, rather than Fridays.

Mondays are always cursed. And waking up at 5:30 in the morning and the weather is already 95* outside? Just makes it even worse.

Yah - funny how communication works nowadays. News really do make it everywhere.

I was rooting for Spain from the get-go and am still amazed that they won. I mean, this is Italy... Anyway, YAY SPAIN! Would be lovely if they got the Cup but Germany might prove to be too strong.

Good to see someone's having a good day :P Actually, after I got over the morning, the day's been okay. And my power was back when I got home, so yay indeed.

Heh! Well, my brain did have a think about that, so we shall see what happens...

I'd kill to have Mondays off, truly. Fridays, you're usually so excited about upcming weekend - Monday is when you need the morale boost.

I assume that's Farenheit? If it was Celcius, you'd be boiling.

Italy knocked out Australia during the World Cup with a penalty four minutes into extra time. So yeah, it's *Italy*. Grrr.

But first Spain was to tackle Russia, which might not be as easy as they think, because Russia's been playing better and better.

Aww! That's a severely cute icon.

Yup, very cursed. It's supposed to be between 29 and 35 C all week. and I have to work in 30-ish today, tomorrow and Wednesday... gah...

Farenheit, yes. Sometimes I wish the US would switch to Celcius, then I could trick my brain into thinking it's cooler because it's a lower number. :)

Oy. Sorry to hear about your Monday of fail. Mine was kinda amazing but I won't tease you with details.

As for football, well, that match in general was really boring and yes we played too defensively, I still don't think Spain was that great either. They had v hot players though (Torres is very very pretty and so is their goalkeeper) so I'm not saying no to another chance to ogle them further in the semifinals.
Btw, [livejournal.com profile] briasoleil rang me so I missed a good chunk of the match, who was the scummy Italian who put on a bit of a show to prevent Spain from scoring? I totally missed that.

I haven't discounted Russia (match Thursday, eeep) but now that Spain is so close, they're going to be battling like mad. Same argument could be made for Russia, I suppose, but... they don't strike me as strong as Spain. Don't know... Never say never but still - te quiero, EspaƱa!!

Spain wasn't as great either, true, but they've been playing very well in other matches and at least they *tried*. Italy didn't even risk anything. Totally defensive shit football, sorry :P

I forget his name, but he got the loudest booing I've heard this tournament. Git.

Me: well, that depends on your definition of companion. =D

My Monday hit suck before eight, when the banana peel which had been rotting and baking all weekend hit me.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a lousy Monday. In fact, I can't complain about mine: Work was very slow today, and I left a bit early without being too tired. But I'd still sign your petition to ban Mondays in general!

Sorry Italians on my flist, but the football Italy was playing hurt me in the heart to watch.

No reason to apologise - they were playing the lousiest football I've ever seen Italy playing in a long time - slow, defensive, opportunistic, uncoordinated, at times unsportsmanlike. Half of the team looked like they were, I don't know, sightseeing or something.
We didn't deserve the semis, makes sense we didn't reach them.

As for the abolition of mondays, especially those whereon people like George Carlin are taken awy from us - you have my vote.

And, BSG? Baltar. I'd love to read your Baltar, with any sauce, dressing or side salad. I don't know why, it just sounds right.

Monday is cursed. I woke with a crappy sore throat, and my classes behaved like little heathens all day. >:(

Fortunately today was much better. I handed them some paper, pens and scissors, and they made fingerpuppets! Apparently you don't grow out of that by high school. Huh.

I think Tuesdays are worse than Mondays but then again I have a 10 hour shift on a Tuesday which colours my opinion somewhat.
