"There can be no viler act, apart from homosexuality and sodomy, than sexually abusing innocent children," says UK MP.

FAIL says I. Massive, massive fail. Words fail me for the fail.

Scary thing I found out via TvTropes' brilliant I Am Not Making This Up page - there was an actual TV show called Heil Honey I'm Home! You can see it on YouTube here. I. Yes. Er. Words kinda fail me a bit there too.

Whoever put Adama/Roslin on the They Do section at TVTropes ears an awww from me, though. Awww.

"Question: if you were aware that the usa was responsible for a hidden CNS chemical warfare holocaust within itself from corruption and crime, which newspapers would you go to with the story?" starts a poster. It doesn't get any saner from there.

That also lead me to find this actual tinfoil hat experiment, which is made of win. Hee.

An interesting opinion on women as rewards/sacrifice, with spoilers for Hellboy II, The Dark Knight and Dr Horrible. I'll let you make your own mind up about that - but I do think portrayal of women have long ways to go yet in the various media.

Wow, they caught Radovan Karadzic. This another one of Serbia's steps towards the EU? Hmm.

This concludes the link service for the day.

In other stuff:
- Got a BSG book and comic I had ordered in the mail today. Shiny! But I wish there was more stuff out there and I really want an Adama/Roslin '08 t-shirt. I'm easy to lure in, so where's the shiny merchandise?
- Things You Do Not Want To Discover While Naked and About to Get in the Shower #66: A very irate wasp. Eeeeek.
- Summer sun! Please stay this time, you starry tease.
- You Know You Work An Awesome Place When... #23: Ice cream for all, courtesy the company. Twice in two weeks, too.
- WoW raiding starting up again, with Black Temple last night. Went okay, but I think some of us are a bit bored with stuff. Bring on the expansion!

And you all?

Well, that makes it all okay then.

It's the cousin of 'but I didn't mean it to be racist', like proclaimed intention disqualifies you from being a bigot/racist/asshole/sexist jerk/dick etc.

I actually have a smidge more respect for people who say hateful shit like taht and owns up to be hateful. A smidge, mind you.

Sun good... not so much when you have to be walking about in it for 3 hours, and it's 35-37 out...

Also, I'm going to attempt to work up the cash to get on WoW for myself here in the next few weeks. Feathermoon, specifically, Tauren Warrior. W00t?

I... err... IDEK what to say to that first quote. Eep.

I second the 'Awww' XD

Re Tinfoil hat experiement: some people have waaaay too much time on their hands!! :P

I'm very suspicious about the Karadzic thing. The timing of it, that is. I mean, they couldn't find the guy for over 10 years and then a few days before talks about Serbia becoming part of the EU, they suddenly find him. Hmm. Idk, maybe XF has just made me far too paranoid!! :P

Yes, summer sun, please don't leave us now!! *begs*

Yeah, 'Allo, 'Allo had its moments, though usually one episode was enough to give you all the jokes in the show. They tended to be repeated.

The phrase 'shut the frak up' somehow springs to mind, don't you think?

(Let's hope it stays in the category, huh?)

Yeah, the timing does seem a bit convenient. It seems to be a fairly accepted truth the guy has been protected by some people. Possibly they've been convinced otherwise, who knows. But it could be a good thing.

Yeah, that's what they were saying on the news this morning. But regardless of that, it can only be a good thing that he's been caught and there'll be some justice finally.

The Irish don't have MPs!!! We have TDs. I don't know why I feel thats important but she's a UK MP from the North from what I can tell. We've got our own fuckwits down south.

Obviously thats not as important as saying that her comments are hideous and disgustingly offensive. I'd be filled with hate but she's not worth my effort

Yeah, I think I just didn't read the article right - UK electoral stuff tends to give me a headache. It's all very involved. I've fixed it. Now she's UK and she can bite me.

It's amazing how much fail there can be in just one statement.

THAT, I will DEFINITELY agree with you on!

So I saw, when I visited a friend north of me over the weekend. I actually made grabby hands about it. Once I've got US$20 to spare, said friend will toss me the other $20, I'll get the WoW battle chest with the BC expansion, and I'll get going on that. I'm not going to have any alts, so if you want to find me, it won't be hard.

from the UK MP: "I find it (the controversy over her comments) amazing, if not unexpected, as these days Christians are persecuted for their views"

sad!LOL. Please, give me a single example of Christians being persecuted. Not that being persecuted makes a person justified in spreading hatred and vitriol. Ah, yet another sparkling example of the fucked-uped logic of confused yet influential people.

Worse. Far, far worse.

As far as the 'loyalist' shower in Northern Ireland are concerned, to be Irish is probably about on a par with being a sodomist. They hate us.

(Years ago, I had a boyfriend who was a Northern Irish Protestant. When I visited him in East Belfast - and I was a Southern-Irish Protestant - he used to tell me not to say a word when we were out around the neighbourhood together. His relations barely tolerated me, and never let an encounter go by without referring to the Republic of Ireland as 'the Free State' - which is, and was intended to be, highly insulting. A good friend of mine from Dublin, who had been allocated to a parish in Belfast, had to put up with his best friend being referred to by his own bloody parishioners as 'that fat Fenian', 'Fenian' being a very offensive term for a Catholic).

I've always despised the Robinsons, even more than I despised Ian Paisley. I just hope that, after this latest display, she'll be even more widely despised.

What the hell? I have never known of anybody, even among those who believe homosexuality is wrong, who believes consenting adults engaging in homosexual acts is worse than the sexual abuse of children. Never thought I'd see the day. Sorry I have. Vile!

That's not a Christian view, though. I mean, mainline Christians believe homosexuality is wrong, but I don't know of one who believes it's worse than the sexual abuse of children. So excuse me, MP, if I'm unsympathetic about the persecution here.

Huh, coincidentally, me too. Only I got three of them. Which did you get?

I splurged and got the 2009 calendar, too--which is preorder, so it will give me a nice surprise in August, I expect.

I got Sagitterious Is Bleeding. It was recced to me. Mum/Dad stuff in it, and even has some Nordic mythology elements in there, which amused me. Okay read.

Comic I got the first volume of just to see what it is like and I figured if I liked, I could always get more. Dunno if I like the art. I have to get used to it a bit, I guess. But it has Zak coming back, sort of, so you might like. Might get more if I can't find shinier merchandise.

I also have calender on pre-order. Lol!

You poor babe - careful hugs! How are you feeling today? Glad it wasn't the worst that could have happened, though.

I got a friendslist issue that is giving me headaches. Woe :(

I think I've heard that particular claim at least once before - or at least claiming the two are as bad. Either way, massive fail. Because what two consenting adults get up to will never ever be on teh same level as horrific abuse of children.

Yeah, I got that one. Plus "The Cylon's Secret" which seems to be 20 years pre-series (but a flick through reveals that young!Bill's in it. I wonder if I'll get a mention of Zak and Lee as kids. That's be cute.) Also got "Unity", which is the first one I've started on probably cos Starbuck-and-Apollo shooting toasters in the prologue drew me in. Set early though, Bill's not an Admiral yet.

Yeah, that's the comic I saw some of, I think. I wasn't that taken with the art either.

*hugs back* Just don't squeeze my left shoulder and we be fine. Also, the bruise I have is pitiful given the size of the hurt. I want more evidence, dammit. And funnily, am getting about the same amount of discomfort from the utterly miniscule injury on my right hand. I either caught it on the corner of the block or got major carpet burn throwing it out in front--there's a teeny bit of skin worn away right on the heel. Which keeps brushing the desk everytime I slide the mouse and stinging rather meanly. Ah well.

I got a later start tomorrow, so you might see me on MSN for a bit after you finish work--you can tell me all your troubles then. ;)

Yowza. That sounds... Vile, really. I mean, I know things aren't sunshine and daisies over there, but I guess ever since the IRA stopped blowing shit up us foreigners just don't watch what's going on there to the same degree.

I got my issues with the Catholic church, but that sort of scorn on a whole people is never okay in any way.

I certainly despire the woman now, does that count?

Young!Bill, hmm. Still, I kinda prefer Adama as he is, which is made of awesome at a certain age. I want newer books, I do.

Several of the characters don't look right to me. Maybe the art will grow on me. I want t-shirts and other shinies first, though.

*patpat* Injuries on the hand and arm are so annoying since there's so many nerves about and they feel worse than they look. My sympathies.

I'm going to PM you a link to something I wouldn't mind advice on when I get home.

Considering I'll bet you'd never even heard of her before this particular incident - and you're far more internationally and politically aware than many people - I'd say it counts for a lot. ;)

And, actually, she's achieved something many of us thought could never be done: united both loyalists and republicans in opposition to her bigotry. Well, those who aren't extreme religious bigots themselves, I suppose...
