Our King has cancer. They're doing surgery to remove the tumor next week, and say he'll be fine. Still... Oy.
Watched Sky News a bit today for footage from the Wellington Return of the King showing. Looks like quite the party. If there ever was a time to be Kiwi for a day...
However, am still bummed over what I hear they cut from RotK. Wah.
Also, Air NZ has launched its new LotR look of airplanes, and they got a Legolas&Aragorn one. That'll make a certain grup of slashers mighty happy, I imagine... (*looks pointedly at Saz*) You can check out the plane here. Wouldn't mind flying in that baby meself...

Date: 2003-12-01 07:56 am (UTC)All this interest in the bladder of a 66 year old.
I especially like that the royal family are up front with the details, so the media won't speculate too much in rumors, etc... making a mountain out of a hill. :)
I hope he gets better after the operation.

Date: 2003-12-01 08:48 am (UTC)*attempts to look innocent* who me? I'm not a slasher... I wouldn't say no to a threesome with them, though, as long as all attention is directed at me. ;)
It's a pity they put their pictures on the curve.. their heads are all distorted! Pretty though.
*yawns* sleepy time... I had to get up at 6am to go to work today.
But everyone *knows* the OTP...
Date: 2003-12-01 01:40 pm (UTC)The party in Wellington got into the news here in .au as well. Even the ABC had something about it. Would have been nice to be there, although it didn't look like they had much for a Pervy Man Fancier like me - lots of hobbits, but not many Men.
So what have they cut from ROTK? I've been having a look at the visual guides, and they seem to be wittering on about Arwen dying or something, which makes me wonder a fair amount, although I'm sure it's more just in the nature of "spoiler spoiler spoiler" stuff. After all, they don't show the destruction of the Ring, or the aftermath of said destruction in these guides either.
Ah well, only about a month before I'll go and see it (I'm going to wait until January for the crowds to die down from "aargh my claustrophobia is playing up" to "my gods there's a lot of people here"). From the trailers, it's looking good, and the EE of TTT gives me a lot of faith in the production team. I'm sure they'll get things right. Well, right-ish.

Date: 2003-12-01 05:42 pm (UTC)But the worst had to be Wenche Foss on NRK asked all kinds of inane questions about when she had cancer.
I hope he gets better too. Cancer is never a good thing, even when it's treatable.

Date: 2003-12-01 05:47 pm (UTC)Pretty plane, precious. Me wants. But me also wants to rule the world, so me might be wanting much me cannot have. Alas.
Early mornings are evil. Evil!
Re: But everyone *knows* the OTP...
Date: 2003-12-01 05:51 pm (UTC)Arwen gets sick in RotK before the Ring gets destroyed, or something, apparently. *shrugs* More Arwen angst. How lucky are we...
Viggo was there, at least. He's due for Oslo December 15th, so he'll be all over the Norwegian news.

Date: 2003-12-01 10:30 pm (UTC)Umm... you made the icon, not me! :P
Yes, early mornings are evil. Thankfully, me got a sleep-in this morning. Bliss!
*munches happily on a havarti sandwich* Ah, the Danes know how to make cheese, yes they do.

Date: 2003-12-02 06:09 pm (UTC)Ah, but when you someday rule the world you'll be able to own the pretty plane. {pulls out clipboard} Now, on the list of Evil supplies should that be before or after the Elevator of Depair (TM)?
(And best wishes for your King. Have no clue what it's like having one, but you seem to care about him, so I do hope he gets better).
*Despair

Date: 2003-12-03 02:39 am (UTC)As for the cheese... havarti's pretty nice--any particular Norwegian cheeses I should look for in order to compare?
And didja hear we have a new labour leader over here? He said on the radio this morning something to the effect of 'George Bush is the most dangerously incompetent leader he has ever heard of'. I love the man already. (plus he called John Howard an asslicker a few months ago! ROFL!!) *kisses Mark Latham to death*

Date: 2003-12-04 06:17 am (UTC)Just randomly surfed into your LJ (via the Thalia fiasco, which I watched from the outside. So sorry you've been hurt, by the way - I was upset and don't even know the girl).
Had to comment because I live in Wellington (and flew in the Aragorn plane last year) and it's just so darn cool to read about people online wishing they could have been here - New Zealand is rarely mentioned in the online circles in which I move. I'm not a huge LOTR fan but am very proud of the movies and Peter Jackson. The parade and atmosphere on Monday were just incredible and so *so* exciting. I live in town on the parade route so we watched them head past and waved from my balcony, then headed to the red carpet area. T'was grand (and very hot - only the second summery day we've really had). Anyway, I could go on but won't clog your journal. If my pics turned out clearer I'd post them or something, but you can only very vaguely see Viggo. Cars were gorgeous, though. Mmmmm, Firebirds ;o)
Not intending to make you jealous, by the way, so apologies if that's the case. I'm just so hyped that not only did we get to host the premiere, but that Wellington got international press. Whee!
Take care - must sleep!

Date: 2003-12-04 06:37 pm (UTC)You should try Jarlsberg - or maybe you did while you were visiting. It's sold in Australia. Good stuff.
Yeah, I heard of the new dude. Better than Beazley, I hope. Kick some Howard and Bush ass! Wheee!

Date: 2003-12-04 06:39 pm (UTC)And I hate you, you lucky Wellington inhabiter. I'm sure you had a splendid time, which I hate you even more for :P
And I live in a tiny, tiny country meself, so I know how exciting world publicity can be. Go NZ! And anyway, we both have fjords. Go us.

Date: 2003-12-05 05:59 am (UTC)It's been quite exciting lately - there are stars all over the place here. Tom Cruise was filming that samurai flick and there is a team of famous folk filming a river movie in the Wellington area (Seth Green is the only celeb to have gotten me quite excited as I'm a big Buffy fan but I freaked during the LOTR parade when I saw Hugo Weaving. Mmmmmm). Sweet lil Wellywood. It's particularly amusing to find out the gossip, because Wellington talks amongst itself ;o)
Catch you later hun, and happy holidays.
He's pinin' for the fjords!
Date: 2003-12-05 09:15 pm (UTC)But you can keep Tom Cruise all you like. He does nothing for me.
Re: He's pinin' for the fjords!
Date: 2003-12-07 08:59 pm (UTC)Meh to Cruise, also. It was quite hilarious - I think he was expecting a major, fannish welcome, and no-one was fussed. Tee hee.

Date: 2003-12-13 08:37 am (UTC)Not bad, tastes like Swiss to me thogh (I have a very unrefined taste!)
And under Latham, the Labour party is ahead of the Libs in the polls for the first time in ages. Yippee!
