Now there's a LJ bot for That Fannish History Site of Infamy.
Hmmm. I sense trouble brewing, I do.
And I see the Casting News from Doctor Who has brought out some... interesting theories. Yeah. Interesting. That's the word I wanted.
(As a sidenote, if I see another "I'm not racist but..." comment about who should and should not be the Doctor, I might have to Internet-hiss at someone. Seriously, if you feel a need to clarify that, chances are very good to excellent you've already gone awry.)
So, the The Ten things Christmas Wish list Meme seems to be making the rounds again. If you're on my gift exchange list and did one, I'd appreciate if you left a link for me if you've done it/doing it, since I don't want to risk missing it. Meanwhile, ten things I wouldn't mind for Christmas are:
1. Icons, graphics, LJ layout, new Public Access banners... I can't do graphics very well, but I love stuff made especially for me and filtered to my tastes.
2. DVDs. Dexter season two, Hustle, Sarah Jane Adventures, Top Gear specials, classic Doctor Who episodes/boxsets, House on Haunted Hill (1999 remake), other stuff that I probably want and can't think of right now.
3. Fics which involve Norway in some way. Shut up, I'm easy.
4. A Scottish guy.
5. Books. I'm quite fond of reading historical non-fiction and fiction, as well as crime, sci-fi, fantasy and even romance.
6. Tasty things. I like Pop-Tarts and can't get them in Norway, which is sad. Wah :(
7. Landscape and nature images. I simply love a view, whether spectacular, cozy or peaceful.
8. New BSG footage. Trailer, webisodes, anything. In a pinch, I'll take fanfic dealing with might happen in the reminder of the season.
9. Fluffy socks and slippers.
10. Weird and unusual things from the world that I certainly would never find in Norway.
I can't believe it's November already...
Meanwhile, I am writing on some of the fic wishes I got, so I offer two small peeks. To remind myself to keep at them and not play WoW, mostly.Give me Wrath of the Lich King now argh argh ARGH
Untitled. Doctor Who. Donna, the Doctor and memories. Post Journey's End.
There are these dreams Donna Noble has.
Stars, skies, songs, storms, all dancing through her head. Images, not faded as dreams should be, but vivid and almost like someone else's life passing through her mind. Passing, never staying. They never feel like dreams as she sleeps, but they must be, because she always wakes.
'Like Family'.Battlestar Galactica. Bill, Laura, lee, Kara, Tigh. Season four.
Bill doesn't remember when he first made a family of them.
Part of it has always been there – Lee, son by birth and blood, but so often a stranger in relations. Lee is his son, but also his own man, and Bill doesn't always understand that man. Doesn't always try to. He doesn't need to. He can still love.
Part of it he picked. Saul Tigh, the brother most would disown and Bill just chose. Not for the mistakes. But for carrying on after them, living with them and because everyone needs someone willing to stand up for them and to them in equal measure.
Part of it he's had built for a while. Kara, daughter by mind and military, and something like a second chance. She knows those, after all. He thinks sometimes her life is a string of them, and that includes her death.
Part of it is new in admition, if not in fact. Laura, wife by heart, and thus it doesn't matter if it's not by law. Not a woman he expected or even wanted to fall in love with, and all the more profound to him for it.
Bill's family. It is about as rag-tag as his Fleet, and it works about just as well.
