I agree that there is a problem with the original poster's comments, but the subsequent wankfest is what I always fear will happen when I confess to not liking a female character. It generally has nothing to do with the writing or the fact that she doesn't "live up to my standards", she's usually just not someone I'd want to be around.
Granted, I have on occasion irrationally disliked a female character, but usually I warm up to them after a while. I actually really like flawed female characters and I think I like it better when the character expands more, given time. I dunno, the way fandom/society treats female characters will always mystify me.
