If you were promoting a new community - with a VIP even, allegedly - and you're not allowing mentions of slash ships, is it really a good idea to pimp it in a specifically slashy comm? And one that allows only promoting of places with the same focus?
Sometimes, you really should look at which comms you're posting to before you start the mad spamming, I say. Recently, someone included
time_and_chips in a mad spamming spree, only it got stuck in moderation because poster was new member. And because it contained a link to fanfic without a proper header, I kicked it back and told her (I presume) to repost with a proper header (and helpfully included a link with how to make one). So she did. Only she posted to the wrong comm. I guess she posted to so many she couldn't keep track of which was which. I laughed a little, because I'm mean.
Meanwhile, in Supernatural fandom, there appears to be a bit of a bruhaha surrounding a 'secret' posted to
spnsecrets of a friendslocked post. There's a lot of arguing about it here and some here and here, mod eventually removes it after request by the poster whose flock it was, then declares posting screencaps of friendslocked material is okay and will be allowed and only taken down at specific request from whoever's flock it is.
Um. Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that a rather big fandom no-no? The person might be totally batshit insane, but I still find reposting friendslocked stuff uncool. Maybe I'm missing something since I'm not in the fandom and maybe that's just as well.
Also, a reminder: This coming week is Eurosong week. Two semi-finals and finale on Saturday. Yes. It's time for that madness again. Bring your alcohol! And did you know there was just released a movie about the junior version?
Comment here saying you want to play. I will find seven things off of your profile and you have to post in your journal with why you are interested in them. At that time, I will comment and squee. And possibly also participate in the fun by having you choose seven of my interests. We will go round and round and round.
peridot_lines picked for me.
42 The meaning of life, the universe and everything, according to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I like it, because it's really such a senseless answer without any context. The meaning of life is the sort of issue I think there is no definite answer to, but you can find your own in your own context. Also, I like Douglas Adams.
catherine/warrick Back in the CSI days, I shipped two ships about equally. This was one of them. They were hot, I liked the chemistry, their shared sense of having had not easy lives and their dedication to the job. The show did acknowledge they'd been at least harbouring certain fantasies about each other, but then he was killed off. One for my 'ships that didn't make it', alas.
dreaming In both meanings here. I like the sort of weirdness that comes out when you're not quite in control of your brain at sleep - last week I dreamt Adama and Roslin were fighting Malygos in my childhood home - it says something about how much goes on in the brain below the conscious level as well. Dreaming here also means daydreaming, which I've been doing since very young and still do and in the wider sense of dreaming of a better future.
insults I was born in Northern Norway, where you insult your friends and are quiet to your enemies. Really. Affectionate insults were a large part of my growing up, and have moulded itself into my brain. I can't help it. The affectionate aside, I also like proper insults as a means of summing up loathing in a perfectly crafted phrase. This is why I like Blackadder quite a lot, yus.
lutefisk Lutefisk is a Norwegian Weapon of Mass Destruction, commonly eaten with aquavit and mashed potatoes. Basically, you take dried fish (by which means differ) and soak it in water and soda lye. Yes, really. Lye. This gives it a very jelly-like consistency, and if you make it from cod, it'll smell very interesting to boot. Then you cook it and eat it. One day, Norway will take over the world with lutefisk. Just you watch us.
tattoos I like tattoos. They can be done to excess (hoo boy yes) but I find having a few of them quite sexy. Personally, I have three - a lizard, a dragon and a tree of life.
water rats This was an Australian show about the Sydney Harbour Police and one of my first fandoms. It was a pretty small one, but made for a fairly friendly one. It's also what sparked my interest in Australia and eventually I came to live there for a few years while finishing a degree. I met several people from the fandom then, and mah BFF
lotus79 was one. So now you know.

As long as it's stuff posted in English I can always claim I was preparing a lesson for my students.
