Kingdom of Heaven reopens old Crusades controversy - Interesting article on the different perspectives on the Crusades as well as the historical context. Of course, most who see the movie will probably be too busy ogling Orlando Bloom. Maybe even me. I have no shame.

I shall be watching the house for le parents starting tomorrow and over the weekend, so don't fret if you don't see me on any IM. I'll check mail and LJ and all, so you can still reach me if need be. Don't miss me too much ;)

Well, I won't be checking out Kingdom of Heaven because of David Thewlis that's for sure. Orlando was the only reason I wanted to see Troy, which was a total waste of time and money.

Though I kind of liked the scene where he got his ass kicked, especially when he was hugging Hector's legs, that was good acting, he looked so pathetic.

Alexander Siddig played Dr. Bashir on Deep Space Nine. You were more of a Voyager fan though, right? I remember seeing a Voyager section on your old homepage.

I hope you don't kill me, but I realized that my PPC fic was in need of some major tweaking. I'm working on chapter five right now; would you mind too terribly if I sent you the previous four chapters (tweaked) as well? I've matured somewhat in the past six months...I think.

Okay alibi time...I haven't found the thread yet (I will) but I offer this: You were with me all day. We were innocently minding our own business drawing mustaches on all the manniquins in Macy's. After we tried to go through the Wendy's Drive Through in a funeral cortege we'd jacked. The horses got frightened and we had to shoot them and bury them which took the rest of the day and handily explains the blood and dirt on our clothing.

Ohmigod! I rarely go to the yahoogroups list, because of authors like her. Also, the uber-dense Anne, who was also on the Josh/Donna (The West Wing) lists back when I used to frequent them.

I hadn't read any of the fic you derided (ever so well, at that!), but I might have skimmed another. There are people who should not be allowed to write anything. Seriously. And if they persist, I say we take away their computers.

Because of my issues (hello, my name is issue-girl *headpalm*), I've been rather dubious about Kingdom of Heaven. But it is a Ridley Scott film, so there is the potential that it might not suck artistically or socio-politically. However, I doubt I'll go see it. I am, after all, an art house film snob.

Alexander Siddig (or Siddig El Fadil, as he was once known) is a rather attractive British actor. He's Libyan or Sudanese or something to that effect.

Why, why why is there such a hue and cry over slash for fuck's sakes? That was kind of the *point* of fanfic way back in the bad old days of Star Trek and zines. Using subtext to tease out the implied or overt homoerotic themes was kind of the goal of those on the margins (i.e. gay, lesbian, biesexual writers) to insert themselves/their sexuality into mainstream texts and thus exert power over the text... Sorry but I'm pissed and getting all post modern over here.

I wanted to go and ogle Orlando, but instead ended up getting excited and raving about wanting one of those catapults after watching another of those 'making of KOH' things on tv yesterday. Constantly hearing about an expert on Saladin actually acting the man made me go 'ooh'. (Looks like I can't stop being a historian. I'd probably get very irritated if I would go and see it.And laugh my lungs out at seeing Orlando playing a 'medieval hero'.)

If you still need an alibi, you would have been helping me building a replica medieval catapult to toss various things to Bush from a safe distance when he's in Limburg (and that will be in a couple of days if I remember correctly.)
