*falls in*
Ow. Ow, ow, ow. My feet. Walking. Hurt. Ow. But good day. Good weather, mostly, and really, same procedure as last year - same procedure as every year. (I suspect very few will get that reference, but some will. Yay on you.) It's tradition, tradition, tradition.
It was a special one this year, though - it's 100 years since we seperated from Sweden and founded the modern independent Norwegian state and 60 years since we gained our freedom again by the end of WW2. And both times, it went peacefully. Sweden could have tried military force to make us stay in a union, but we managed to negoiate to peace and idependence. 250,000 Germans troops in Norway could have fought to the last man at the end of WW2, but surrendered and let a Norwegian force of some tens of thousands take over. Peace. Sometimes it can win forth and this too, we celebrated today. There are worse legacies.
Speaking of Norway - I found a newsstory I appearantly missed when it was new - Book calls Norwegians 'Satan's sons'. What interests me is that it's *Muslims* trying to get it banned. I give them a hearty salute for speaking against racism within their own ranks. (Norwegians, take heed.) And I was quite happy to see how many of non-Norwegian ancestry joined in May 17th celebrations. And the fact that they felt free to flag with their flags. Multiculturalism yay, say I. But then, I am an evil atheist social democrat with funny ideas and am possibly a daughter of Satan. Hey, I've always felt I was lacking a tail I was born to have.
And speaking of me having evil tails - Babydoll has apperently finished her imfamous letter to TPTB at CSI production. I've asked if I can have a look, but given how much she knows I like Cath/War, I may not get one. Sniff.
Ow.
