Norwegian and Fanfic
May. 26th, 2005 09:45 pmEast of the Sun, West of the Moon as chapter sixteen up here and here
Writing killer-POV is mentally exhausting. I keep thinking "does this make sense?" and then "shouldn't I be kinda scared if it does?" Sometimes, I wonder about my mind, I do. And then I forget that as my cat demands cuddles and food.
On the topic of CSI fanfics, I've started reading fics about Greg and I've discovered a very troubling trend among them of sticking Norwegian in there - by authors who doesn't speak it and use online translators. It's a bit like LotR authors using Elvish without understanding it. Only Norwegian is *my* language. Show it some respect, for smeg's sake. Or I will come trout-smacking.
The good news is one author who I left a review for pointing out the Norwegian was rather flawed actually e-mailed me and asked me to help with translations, which I have. So now at least one fic will get it right. So, dear CSI authors, if you know someone wanting to or using Norwegian in their fanfic and doesn't know it, send them this way. And that way I won't have to be inflicted with unfortunate mental images from translating "please" with the Norwegian word for sexually pleasing someone.
Speaking of Norway and CSI...
Norwegian research measure bruise age (Could be very helpful for forensic science)
And for the meme of my previous entry, how I would judge myself.

*ponders LJ layout* Think I should get a CSI one or a Norway one or stick with this one? I am conflicted.
