Some Updates, Some Fun, Some Weirdness.
Jun. 9th, 2005 02:07 pmEast of the Sun, West of the Moon has chapter twenty-three up here (ff.net) and here (CSI Forensics) while Cam has nearly finished ch. 28. I keep staying 5 chapters ahead. Aren't I the diligent writer?
Sniff. All them permanent LJ accounts now gone. Ah well. Maybe when I'm rich.
Rumsfeld has departed the country, thank Odin. Now don't you come back real son, you hear?
Some fun links:
Watch a guy go from pick-up to BATSHIT INSANE in the span of a few posts (Truly, this one is a marvel.)
Roleplayer is wanting more playmates at YTDAW - that's The Roleplayer of a few posts earlier, in case you missed that griping tale. (Apropos YTDAW, I've actually considered a 'Best of Babydoll' feature with links to her various YTDAW posts. We shall see.)

Some mildly weird e-mails sitting in my inbox:
Topic: Dangerous Games of the Heart
Hello, i am so interesed in this story, but I understand a little English, it´s possibly to send me this in sapnish, I will appreciate very much.
Regards.
Pedro
(Dangerous Games of the Heart is a Water Rats fic I wrote years and years ago, so why anyone would now want to read it in 'sapnish' is beyond me. Not to mention I don't speak that language at all, so why would I have a copy of it in 'sapnish'?)
Topic: CSI Script RE:John Laks
Ms. Sandman,
I recently did a Google search just for the fun of it to see what would come up with my name. Wow what a surprise to see it in the script of CSI my favorite show. Please feel free to use my name. I can also prove the name is mine and I'm not some nut case out there.
Is this a show that is going to air? or just a proposed script? And I have to ask how did you come up with that name?
John Laks
(Someone's never heard of fanfics... I actually wrote that name into Lullaby for the Living, just because Laks is Norwegian for salmon and I thought it would be a distinctive name. Poor guy, I must have ruined his excitement when I replied with the truth. Ah well.)
Also, for my Cam Recommends page, I need more good fanfic. Got some you think I would recommend, hit me with a link. CSI or LotR preferably.

hadria made it for me just before I posted a C/W story with the same name. Oddly fitting, I must say. Also pretty.

Date: 2005-06-09 06:06 am (UTC)The link to babydoll's post would be fun (and useful) for all your friends who don't hang out at YTDAW.
I loved the pictures from Norway's centennial...All those cute guards..I've got a thing for men in uniform! ;P

Hehehe. That would be our royal guard, 'Garden'. My brother served his draft there.

Okay. End of rant. Sorry, I couldn't help it ;P

Date: 2005-06-09 06:51 am (UTC)Btw, you're right. Not that the universe needs any help in getting naughtier, though.

Date: 2005-06-09 08:23 am (UTC)As for fic reccs...have you read anything by Scribe? She's quite good if you haven't. I especially recommend her Gateway series, which begins with The Patient and is ending with The End of Days. It's the best take on "LoTR in the present day" that I've read.
Good Things in Small Packages: Post Grave Danger (5th season finale). Nick, plus Archie and Hodges (lab techs). Includes CSI-tech friendship, Farscape and penguins.
Epilogues: Another post-Grave Danger fic. Several characters deal with the aftermath of the episode in their own ways. My favorite part is the different formats the chapters take on as the POVs change.
*thinks* Have I recced anything by Wintertime to you before? I can't remember. If not, all of her CSI stuff is pretty good, so you could probably take your pick from her author page. I especially recommend 4 AM. Trust me on that one.
forensicsfan is another favorite CSI author of mine. She mainly writes Nick/Sara, but she almost always manages to slip in a little W/C.

If you do a "best of babydoll", I'll build you an altar of love in my room.
HOLY FUCK, the man on the bicycle board is a FREAK. It would be kind of funny if it wasn't so believable, but some people seem to think he might be a serial killer. 0_o
I feel sorry for the poor delusional guy who thinks scriptwriters need his permission in the first place and has never heard of fanfic. :( :( :(
