Roald Dahl is a genius.

So is Tim Burton.

And Johnny Depp, really.

And of course the one and only Willy Wonka.

Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka,
the amazing chocolatier.
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka,
everybody give a cheer!
He's modest, clever, and so smart,
he really can't restrain it.
With so much generosity,
there is no way to contain it.

Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka,
he's the one that you're about to meet.
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka,
he's the genius who just can't be beat.
A magician and a chocolate whiz,
he's the best darn guy who ever lived,
Willy Wonka, here he is!

(Yes, Cam has been to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You may guess her opinion.)

It's addictive. I want the soundtrack so I can sing along to that and the Oompa Loomba songs until I go maaaaaad.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! You HAD to do that. I just successfully erased that song from my brain after it had been stuck in there for three weeks!

But the movie rocks. Enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. Though WW is a bit... creepy.

Yes. I am cruel.

*hums the tune*

Willy Wonka being slightly creepy is oart of the charm. It's a wild, morbid adventure. If it was too nice, it wouldn't feel like Dahl.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp rock my world. and coincidentally they are doing another movie together. The Corpse Bride. It's a clay animation one and it looks so good! I can't wait to see it!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was really a great movie: Once more, it has been proven that Tim Burton is God and Johnny Depp is his prophet!

And for the first time, I think, I actually got the proof that Roald Dahl and Hollywood can go together (the movie version of Matilda, however, was just plain awful...).

Last but not least: Icon love! :D

Had to go out and get appropriate icons for this post, oh yes.

And this movie did indeed prove Dahl can also be gold on screen, if you actually dare stick to the theme and feel of his books without being utterly slavebound to it. It should be slightly nasty and creepy.

Ah yes.... Matilda. Not the best movie I've seen.

The girl who played Matilda is at school with my sister now. /random

The movie version of The Witches was decent. And John Cleese is making The Twits.

My only regret is all the craptastic fic that movie has spawned, even though the movie could make up for it.

Roald Dahl is/was really creepy. I had nightmares after reading Royal Jelly.

How bad is the fanfic?

Damn!

I had freaky dreams after reading The Witches as very young.

Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, Johnny Depp provides the looks
Tim Burton's creepy visuals and Danny Elfman's themes
Deep Roy plays every single part in the Oompa Loompa scenes!

Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, it's the movie you're about to love
Willy Wonka, Willy Wonka, weird makeup, hair and shiny gloves
The author would have liked this lad
And Saruman's his dentist Dad
Willy Wonka, slightly mad!

Oh damn. My brain has been on endless-humming-of-lyrics-that-drive-you-crazy-after-three-days mode for two weeks now. It's the kind of serious type - even when you wake up in the middle of the night the first thing you notice that your throat is sore of the soundless humming. I don't know if I should be thankful or kill you for replacing "Mrs. Robinson" that has been entertaining me five days already.

But an amazing film, that was. I love the fact that badly behaved kids get what they deserve >:) And Willy Wonka was adorable!

You didn't like it, did you? :) (A smiley I feel so dirty)

My friend liked it. But then, he liked War of the Worlds. But he liked Shaun of the Dead. But he likes coffee. But he leant me KOTOR! But he didn't mind Garfeild. Rather confusing, he is...

And now, for a ditty of my own...

"Don't go near that old man," said my mum and dad,
"He's been here for twenty years and we know that he's mad,"
"It's true, the years of hermitage have driven him crazy,
for each and ev'ry day and night he whispers to that tree."
Ah, poor foolish mum and dad, their warnings I ignored,
I heard and watched the mad old man one day when I was bored,
He said to it, "Nora, pass me specs if you don't mind,
For if I were without them I would probably go blind!"

Air of Mystery - He's a poet and he knows it quite well, actually.
