Yes. Look at my shiny new fandom. Time travel, leather, whacky aliens, Daleks, UST, oh my!
Funny about fandoms. I've passed through a few during my time online and whenever I get really settled in one, I also start getting bugger-off-gitis and poke about elsewhere. Sometimes, I come back. Sometimes, I don't. (I've come back to CSI once before, though.)
Doctor Who is my new loverboy. Is it here to stay? Who knows... I have been feeling vaguely dissatisfied in the CSI fandom. Lots of great people I've met through it (*hugs you all*), but also some I really don't like. And truer-love-than-your-ship attitude is seriously starting to annoy me. Very seriously. Anyone else feeling that?
And I've been feeling bored writing some of my fanfics there of late. Never a good sign.
Ah well. We'll see how it all goes. I can share my love around. Multitasker, me. And of course, helps to have something in a fandom you're fond of sticking around for.Unless I can lure you all over to my new obsessions
Rose: Hold on a minute! You can't just go swanning off!
The Doctor: Yes, I can. Look. Here I am. This is me swanning off. Seeya!
ETA: Oh yeah, and I also won this award...

for East of the Sun, West of the Moon.
Go me, I guess.

Date: 2005-10-05 04:51 pm (UTC)*raises hand* Yeah, me too. Can't we all just remember that it's a *TV show* we're watching, and try to get along? I never realized how crazy people could get about their 'ships until I entered the CSI fandom. These people are vicious...

Date: 2005-10-05 05:07 pm (UTC)People fight over these things like their ship is religion. Geez.
The whole bit about 'fictional people' must've blown out of their minds.

Date: 2005-10-05 09:43 pm (UTC)Sometimes, in fits of exasperation and/or general crankiness, I can't help but wonder if that man purposely makes stupid decisions and sticks by them just to show he can (if you don't want to mention cronyism, of course). I'm almost tempted to bet if, in a moment of drunkness, he loudly and widely promised to fight to ban oxygen, he'd "defend his choice" even after sobering up.
Congrats for the award!
I know what you mean about fandoms. They have their fun, and you can make some great friends through them, but the wankiness and the displays of "I'm a bigger fan than you" and just plain taking things too seriously in many of them can get old after a while, even when you try to ignore them and focus on the good things.

Date: 2005-10-05 09:51 pm (UTC)Ugh.
There comes a point for everything where the bad just seems to outweigh the good, me thinks. It helps to take a little break then and let yourself rediscover the good.

I still want a new country. Or at least a cave to hide in until the New Fifties are over.
