If you were introducing yourself at a Fandomers Anonymous meeting, how would you describe yourself? Copy/paste into your journal and reply.

"Hello all! I'm Cam. I'm a fanfic snob and like to laugh at the stupid. If you use your brain, I'll probably like you. Oh, and don't use online translators for Norwegian in your fanfic, mmkay?"

WIP sneak-peeks!

The Passing of Seasons (Summer) (CSI, GSR)

The heat went where the light did and battled the air conditioning and shades of the city for domination. It was summer in Las Vegas and people seemed too weighed down with heat even to commit murders. And so, the lab was unusually quiet, people working on old cases under the hissing of fans. Hush inside, roar outside.

And Sara Sidle trying to seduce him.

Oh, it wasn't perhaps seduction in the normal, accepted way. It was seduction in the Sara way, especially crafted for Grissom madness. A little smile across yellow tape, a little breath in his air as she stood much too close, a little touch just walking by. A little temptation in her eyes.

He wasn't sure anyone at work could tell. She was efficient, dedicated and the only real difference was that she now read entomology books and romance novels alike in the breakroom. Every time he saw her huddled over, eyes on a page, he knew she had taken them from his shelves. She was pushing into his life, quietly, but he couldn't stop her anymore than he could stop the sun.

Unnamed CSI/Doctor Who crossover

"I'm doctor Albert Robbins. And you are...?"

"Just the Doctor. "

"And you're here to...?"

"Steal an alien body to prevent the destruction of your planet by Dengifarers." The Doctor grinned happily, then seemed to think of something. "That all right?"

II

Shades of Dawn (CSI, GSR)

"Would you like to start anew? Meet again?"

She looked at him in silence, her eyes slightly distant.

"No," she finally said and his heart felt like a winter. "What has happened between us will always have happened. What happened to my father and mother will always have happened. I think I've been trying to change it through my work. But time only knows one way. Not even a little child's desperate wish can change that."

"I'm sorry," he said and she smiled briefly, a smile of loss and pain.

"I will not start anew with you, Gil Grissom. But we could try to heal what already is."

II

Unnamed Nine/Rose(/the TARDIS) fic (Doctor Who)

She has, somehow, gotten used to the idea that the TARDIS can come into her mind, make itself comfortable and have a cup of tea while translating what threats of bodily dismemberment the aliens are throwing at her and the Doctor this week.

However, she's never quite gotten used to the humming of Best of British Pop, 1988-89. She supposes it's the ship's way of making her feel welcome.

She just wishes not all the songs were about shagging like bunnies, because if she didn't know better, she'd think the TARDIS was trying to play unsubtle matchmaker.

OFUM2 chapter that's been half-written for ages (LotR)

And thus it was that OFUM came to be devoid of Canon Characters and mayhem ruled and students lusted each other for 'lo, hormones did not die and desperation was a powerful thing. And many did despair and hug cardboard Legolas they had cut. Alex did cut a wood Legolas to sleep with, but found that a sleeping Ent did not much like being carved into Legolas and thus Alex found herself turned into Entdraught.

And the students dideth wail and wail, but out of darkness came a savior who feareth not and venturedeth into the world where the Canon Characters had wandered and she dideth help to pull them all back. And her name was Kat and she...

"Are you really going to hand that in?" Jess asked, peeking over Kat's shoulder and barely holding back a smirk. They were both in the library and both actually working, shocking as it was.

"Shut up," Kat replied. "I have to hand in a Silmarillion style essay for Hail, Idiot-proof Silmarillion Training for Oblivious Reading-challenged Yawners. Why not make it about recent events?"

Jess rolled her eyes. "That's your idea of Silmarillion style, is it?"

"No, but it will remind Finwë I know what he did in Finland," Kat said and smirked herself. She would never look at saunas the same way again, that was for sure.

"Sneaky," Jess remarked and they a Knowing Look. As part of Miss Cam's Earth Rescue Team they had indeed seen much before the great plot-hole re-nap had sent all Canon Characters back to OFUM's Middle-earth. Miss Cam had forbidden everyone to talk about it, but she had said nothing about writing about it...

"I love blackmail."

"Morgoth would love us," Kat observed, watching Suzine and madmax fight over a book called 'Noldor Nudity: Elven Exposes Through the Ages'. She considered warning them Morgoth had placed the book there and it certainly wasn't Elves that were baring their bums in there, but she decided against. They probably wouldn't believe her anyway.

"He would, except he knows we can blackmail him too."

"You know we will eventually be in great pain for this, right?"

"I know. But it will be worth it."

All these fics sound wonderful. And in the few lines I've just read of Dr Who/CSI crossover, you've got The Doctor right down to a tee. Fantastic!

Oh oh oh! You'll never guess what I saw on my travels today. Tesco [our local supermarket] are selling PET DALEKS!

Nine/Rose/TARDIS is definitely the fandom's other OT3. :)

And I'd like that pet dalek from Tesco's as well. I think I've ended up on the wrong side of the channel...

Clearly.

Maybe we can demand under EU regulations that pet Daleks be shared.

Kinky!OT3. I love it.

I've been enjoying reading about your new Doctor Who fixation. I've had a moderate interest in it for about seven years so I can actually get into these new fanfics much more than the CSI stuff. I never really knew enough about the latter.

Unnamed Nine/Rose(/the TARDIS) fic I like the beginning of this one. The opening line is excellent!

Hey you. Been a while.

Didn't know you were familiar with Doctor Who. Seen the new series, then? The Ninth Doctor is brilliant. You should check it out if you haven't and get a chance.

And thanks. *pats the TARDIS* Naughty ship.

It really has been awhile. I've been so busy of late and trying to slow down a little.

Yeah, my first serious boyfriend, [livejournal.com profile] notrealnews, got me into both Doctor Who and Babylon 5 back in 1998. He's an insane collector and has basically everything ever made that relates to Doctor Who. You'd love his collection, I bet.

I haven't gotten to see the new series yet and unfortunately, that will have to wait until my cable gets turned on here at the new place. It was supposed to be yesterday but is now delayed due to the tropical storm. *smacks weather*

My usual TV fandoms are looking drab this season so something fresh would be very welcome. I don't suppose you know where I could find caps of it for a bit of graphics fun?

Unrelated note/interesting little tidbit- I just found out that my friends' band are going to have one of their songs featured in an upcoming episode of CSI. I'm pretty proud of them.

I'd drool all over his Daleks.

I would know indeed. Caps from all the eps (under Doctor Who 2005).

Baaaad weather, keeping the Doctor away. Shame on it! If you liked the old Who, you might just love this. So, so much fun.

Really? That's very cool. Do you know which ep?

*waves* Welcome to my flist. Hope you won't be bored. I ramble a bit.

CSI has been my fandom for over a year and Doctor Who is my new shiiiiny fandom, so really, I can't resist the temptation to make them meet. Especially since I want the Doctor to weird out Grissom.

And I hear ya about the drenk. Hoo boy, do I ever hear ya. And I've only been peeking about for a week or so. I'm sure I've only touched the surface so far.

CSI is just as bad, though. Seems to be a fandom must, arg.

Glad to hear you've enjoyed my stuff, though :) I hope to keep it that way and improve as I get more comfortable with the style and Canon.

Don't go swimming too deep, the muck is terrible. ;-)

I primarily swam in the Jossverse waters and have been spoiled by some truly excellent writers - not that that fandom isn't batshit crazy sometimes and have been known to produce a spectacular quantity of howlers.

But once I cut the FF.net apron strings and learned the ins and outs I hit some deep veins of gold. I'm still waiting for that in this shiny new fandom. Or for the very young "OMG Chris Eccleston is so HOT <3 <3!!11!" fangirls to become distracted by something new.

Have you read [livejournal.com profile] icebluenothing's From This Day to the Ending of the World?

Now that's what I'm talking about.

::happy sigh::

I'm a survivor of the LotR fandom. I've known the worst muck there is. Doctor Who does not scare me.

I haven't read too much Buffy - back when I was into it, I read crap and thought it good, anyway. Teenagedom, it's a curse. But the fandom did seem to attract some more quality-minded and brainy people than perhaps some other fandoms.

Always the fangirls. LotR, it was the Orlando Bloom lusters. But maybe some of them will mature. One can hope.

It was on my list, but hadn't quite gotten there yet. I moved it up a few spots. Oh yeah. Goodfic, how sweet you do taste...

Oh. Do move it up.

If you're like me and know next to nothing about Classic Who then this is a plausible and heartbreakingly sad tale of what may have happened to regen Eight into Nine and why he is what he is. Because it only briefly mentions Rose it didn't cause nearly the stir it should have on Time and Chips.

I'm a survivor of the LotR fandom. I've known the worst muck there is.

::blanches::

Yes. Yes you have. I only dipped my toe into LotR and I was scared away by the crazy Legolas lovers. Besides, everyone knows it's All About Faramir.

I did. I read it know. Brilliant. Writing style, characterization and all... I know zilch about Who of Olden Days as well (except for Daleks. I know Daleks). And of course, not being as shippy, it doesn't get the praise it deserves while shippy crap does. I see that all over CSI fandom too. It's a shame. I like to write ship, but cripes, that's not what Iduse as a claim to quality.

Mmm, Faramir.

LotR has so much muck it ain't even funny. Legolas lusters are just the tip of the ice berg, but a very sharp one. But the highest tide of it seems to have faded, thank odin.
