Senate rebels against White House

And Bush wants to veto this. He must've picked up that I haven't been as disliking of him as usual of late (I've been distracted by shinies) and decided to get properly back in my bad graces. Well, you made it, Bush. Now stand still while I smack you very hard with this human rights charter.

Twat.

Oh, and for those who fondly remember legolas, surely one of the worst LotR fanfics out there, it's now on tape. Enjoy!

And because no post of mine of late is complete without Doctor Who...

Now why did the BBC have to go and cut this hug from the Dalek episode?

Mmm, hot. And very graphic worthy. Naughty snip-snip BBC. But I still love you.

Wow, I've never listened to badly written fanfic on audio before. That's a dimension of pain I never even knew existed.

*swipes caps for future play*

You know me, always eager to share the pain for the good of all.

:P Do share said play.

Huh. Now I can't recall if that hug was featured on the version that aired on the CBC. I'll have to pull out my tapes and check it out.

And badfic on audio? It's bad enough to see it on my computer screen - after which I fall into denial - but to hear it would make repressing it that much more difficult, I think.

It wasn't on the BBC version, at least. Bummer, eh?

True, but hearing legolas read is hillarity. The whole thing is just one long paragraph and punctuation is all weird. Quite the challenge to read.

Not even the pretty pictures are enough to make up for that link.

My ears!

Ok that fic was awful, it was worse than awful. I gotta give props to the girl who read it though. Doing that without laughing your ass off is no small feat I'm sure.
Mind if I pimp it in my journal?

And Bush is a fucktard, all I'm gonna say lol

Go forth and shareth the pain, my child. (In other words, knock yourself out.)

Agreed.

About bloody time the Senate actually did something useful. *waves 'Mutiny Rocks!' flag*

*hugs the hugging in all its huggable huggability*

Well, I just checked and there was no embrace in the CBC version either. Meanies! Skimming through the ep, though, really made me remember why I loved Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor: he was perfectly funny, perfectly eccentric and perfectly devastated by the destruction of Galifrey. He juggled those three aspects of the Doctor's personality so seamlessly. ::sighs:: My Christopher Eccleston love knows no bounds.

And with such overwhelming majority, too. I'm impressed.

:) It's truly among the huggiest hugs there were. Full body contact, baby!

I know. The man got me obsessively hooked on Doctor Who within 45 minutes and I'm usually slow to form my loves. *bows to the fantasticness of Eccleston's Doctor*

Th Dalek ep is a really good one for him, too.

Dare I ask what "language" the White House wants concerning prohibiting "the 'cruel, inhumane or degrading' treatment of prisoners in the custody of America's defence department?"

Well, maybe I shouldn't. No stomach for it.

I was going to put a picture of Bush on a dartboard and ask if anyone was up for a game, but I bet that would be perceived by certain people in power as a threat to Bush's actual safety, rather than what it actually is (an expression of displeasure against one hell of a shitty president). :P

Wasn't he tortured for real in Vietnam? I'd think that would make him a man who knew the bloody danger of it.

Threat to homeland security and all, probably.

Come to Norway and throw darts here. They'll be steel-tipped.

Use a digicam if you're going to take pictures of people using Bush's face as a dartboard. Otherwise, this might be you.

Some days, I really get a hankering to move to Norway. Canada is no longer far enough.

From: [identity profile] chem-nerd.livejournal.com
Not sure. I believe so. I know he was a Prisoner of War there, which means he was almost certainly tortured.

I heard about that story... a digicam is all I use anymore, but still, *sigh*

We should have a dart party in Norway, then...

BBC article about McCain in Vietnam

Says he was tortured, though Vietnam denies that they tortured prisoners.

Yeah, we've always denied torturing prisoners too. And I'm a mongoose...

And I just realized that Laura is 10 in this story and Legolas agrees to be her boyfriend...

Wow. There is nothing like the head of government of the only superpower left standing up and not supporting anti-torture legislation. There are no words to describe how frightened this makes me. Because if we can't agree that torture is bad and needs to be stopped, how can we agree on any international human rights' accord? Oy. This man certainly knows how to enrage me.
