Tonight's the last round of the European qualifiers for the football (or soccer, if you're American), deciding who will qualify directlty and who will have to go through play-off. Norway's in for the play-off. Let the madness commence. Romania needs the Czeck team not to win against Finland for Romania to get the play-off spot, and a mayor of a Romanian town has therefore offered the Finnish team a street named after them if they manage a draw or a win.

Football, you see, is serious business. I'm just in for the ogling. And the slight national pride Which the Cameroon player who missed his penalty kick, thus ensuring Cameroon would not qualify, can testify to. He's still under police protection, as is his family.

You wish is my command. But I have to apologize for the amateurish qualities of icons made with MS Paint. However, I'm quite sure that many photoshopped shinies by other LJ-ers are going to follow my attempts at icon-making. :)

I used to have a freeware version of GIMP, the Photoshop clone, but the only thing the ?*/&%$§! software ever did was crashing. Clearly, my OS didn't like it...

I think for the second the icon, it should be with the second pic. The Doctor's expression is perfect for your quote.

I wish I was good at making icons so I could offer to help out. But I've tried, and I suck. I can't even figure out my PSP programme (it's so hard and confusing!! ::cries::), so it just sits there, day after day, month after month, taking up space on my HD. Oh, well.

And the serious business of football? I totally understand. D'you recall those members of the Colombian team a few World Cups ago who were killed because they lost? Scary, man. I don't follow it religiously during the regular matches and the various European Cups like my family does, but I do get all into the World Cup. I kinda go insane and obsessive.

Oh yeah, I remember. The funny thing is of course that I can totally see how it happens. I love my darling teams, even if I'd never go that far, I can certainly feel the spires of obsession.

Well, I tried. But the instructions had me utterly baffled. I tried to follow the tutorials some LJ people put up to intruct on how to get certain effects for icons, but again, I was completely baffled. I've tried to make a wallpaper by using a couple of different pictures but I couldn't even figure out how to have the two pics together so I could start fiddling with the images to create one brand new one.

I think the problem is that I have no knowledge of any paint programmes at all. I've never used one and don't even know the basics, nor the terminology which is what confuses me the most. What I think of as a definition of a "blend" is not at all what they mean--and I have no idea what they mean. Then there are the various "layers" they refer to. My head starts to explode. And that's when I also start to cry.

I sometimes wonder if football taps into the same source as what sparks human war addiction. It can certainly be as violent. Though usually not, so perhaps better football than war.
