Changes for Norway (but not too many) and Much Fun About Romance Novel Covers

First, a heartily thank you to everyone who answered my last post with icons. I adore you all immensly, you much-too-giving people. I've taken quite a few of them. Whee! And now that my cunning plan to get lotus79 hooked on Doctor Who as well, I'm a happy camper. (Seems to have dragged a few more into it, too. Muhahaha.)

So I met ligaras from YTDAW earlier today.

It's kinda odd meeting someone from the Net, since you know them, but you don't really. And I tend to keep my online life and real life apart, so doubly odd having someone talk to you about your fics to your face. But she's delightful and we talked for quite a while. Bashed Bush more than a bit, I fear. Always a popular pasttime with Norwegians. (And ye Gods, the American embassy in Norway has turned into Fortress America. They got more security there than we have to get into Parliament or our government buildings, for crying out loud. Feels so out of place in Norway.)

And she gave me season five of CSI, which I will peek at over the next week or so. Remains to see if that is enough to drag me away from the shininess of Doctor Who. (Wanna bet?)

Platform for new Norwegian 'Red-Green' government emerges - good news for you, maureenlycaon. They're not gonna allow wolf hunts. Our wolves will be safe for four years at least. We'll also wrap up our committment in Afghanistan and Iraq and instead uses our forces more on UN missions. There will be oil drilling in the Barents sea, but certain areas will not be touched and it won't be rushed into. A gender-neutral marriage law will be suggested (replacing the current 'civil marriages' for gays if it passes). Possibly adoption rights too. Foreign policy will be slightly less bow-to-the-US. No application to join the EU will be put forth these four years. There will be a 'clean-up' grant for natural gas refineries. We'll probably get our first female Finance Minister. Actually, we might for the first time get a majority of women as ministers, but I'll get back to you on that one.

This is how Norway will be run the next four years. Don't expect too many great changes. We'll be much the same as we've always been.

Steady as we go, eh?

*loud applause* Your previous government's policy on wolves was an embarrassment to an otherwise civilized nation. Just hope this isn't all undone with another change in another few years.

And I just hope our environment isn't a smoking hole in the ground by then. The House has voted to weaken the Endangered Species Act.

Well, this is a majority government, so unless they fall out, this will be how it is until next election in four years. What happens then, no one can say. But four years should give the wolves a chance to perhaps settle in numbers.

Course, the wolves also enter into Swedish territory and I cannot speak for them.

Those Romance Covers are SCARY. Did you see the one from previous years? There's one winner with the girl licking (probably) whipped cream from a guy's face, and some voters assumed it's hairgel, like There's Something About Mary hairgel. That cover is quite, quite icky.
