[livejournal.com profile] kerlin just gave me the mother of all double-takes. [livejournal.com profile] kerlin, if you don't know it, writes very good CSI fic. She's on my fanfic recs. And I see in my inbox today she's left a comment on one of my stories and I wibble a little, as getting reviews from authors you yourself like does give a little wibble.

Then I pause and realise.... "What a minute, she's commenting on Measures of Time. That's a Doctor Who fic. Huh?"

No fandom is safe from bumping into people you know from other fandoms, it seems. (How come wherever I go, there's always someone who knows OFUM? And then there's [livejournal.com profile] larakailyn, who I was on the same ship as back in the days of Babylon 5. Small Internet.) If [livejournal.com profile] kerlin writes Doctor Who fic though, Cam will be a very, very happy woman. Mmm. Need to seduce more people over. Join the Doctor love. Joooooin us.

(Pssst, [livejournal.com profile] wiccagirl24! It's one of your darling older men)

Speaking of happy, [livejournal.com profile] j0llipops's package of Pop-Tarts arrived for me yesterday. (Thank you, babe!) Mmm. Pop-Tarts. I now have enough to last me a couple of weeks at least. I wish they'd start making the sodding things in Norway already. It's very sad to have a craving for things you can't actually get in your own country.

Oh, and all Catherine/Warrick shippers on my list, keep an eye out for the new CSI book Killing Game. Found a quote from it on YTDAW.

But the kidding flirtation with Tomas brought to Catherine's mind another coworker, a closer one: Warrick. For a while now, she'd sensed a certain sexual tension between herself and the tall CSI. They'd shared something, not so long ago—just a…moment, where she'd stumbled and he'd helped her, and she wound up in his arms, briefly, eyes locked. Nothing had happened—no kiss or embrace or anything overt…
Then, just when she'd been trying to sort out whether a relationship between two CSIs was even worth considering, the shake-up of the team had made her Warrick's boss.
Talk about complications.

While on the same ship, check out the new Catherine/Warrick fanfiction archive. Neat, no?

Interesting rant on Fandom and Male Privilege. Hmm-hmmm.

ETA: Don't miss the wank! The thread here is particular gold, coupled with a great Doctor icon and mentions of CSI.

I should clear up that I don't watch television. I never have and likely never will. Of course, I'm *male*.(...)

Well, honey, I don't need books or statistics to tell me that only a greatly ignorant person would try to tell me that CSI is not one of THE most gynocentric television programs in a gynocentric media.

IT'S BLEEDING CSI.(...)

I have the authority because my opinion agrees with popular opinion. Regardless of whether or not 500 people on the internet think that television is not gynocentric, all research points to this. I could give you resources, but why should I? I'm the educated one.

In the news, it's bad days all around for Bush and friends:
Bad day for Republicans
Bad day for Blair also
Protest over 'cencored' gay kiss
US 'uses incendiary arms' in Iraq, it is claimed
Some states rebel against Bush on Kyoto

Meme for the bored:
Give me a story title and a fandom/ship. I'll give you the summary and a line or two I'd write for a fic with that title.

We could stick a dam up her pipe and she'd still be at it. She's not cared about Canon before, she's hardly likely to do so now.

She's CSI very own Harmonian shipper, I'm telling you.

It's kind of amusing in a 'shut the hell up, you blithering idiot' kind of way.

Summary: Ecklie hadn't planned to spend his time in Sweden, Nevada getting murdered.

"We're going where, Grissom?"

"Sweden. Little town north of here. We were requested."

"Why?"

"Local police wouldn't say until we get there. If it's a waste of time, at least we can try their meatballs before going home."

"As long as it's not another 'bug surprise'..."

Summary: It wasn't quite how it was like in the romance novels. But somehow, it was still right.

Luna blinked at him. "Well, usually I prefer lace."

Something amusing I picked up last night, and adapted. I happened to be watching Discovery Channel and they were talking about a Norweigian guy that does crab fishing in your home country, Cam, and the line was this:

"There's three ways to fish for crab, the right way, the wrong way, and the Norweigian way"

Thing is, my mind immediately translated it to: "There's three ways to smack with trout, the right way, the wrong way, and the Miss Cam way"

I thought you might find that amusing.

Heh.

Yes indeed. I didn't know there was a Norwegian way to fish crabs, though. Live and learn.

It was the guy's quote, actually, nothing that the narrator said personally.
