Christmas Morning Awakenings
Dec. 25th, 2005 09:40 amAh, Christmas morning... Waking stuffed with good food and all the gifts I got last night piled up in various places of the room. I got some killer new shoes and various clothing articles, a new computer chair, a framed picture of my beloved Tromsø, perfumes, the Nemi book, the Doctor Who Shooting Scripts (thank you,
mademoisellenon!), Taekwon-Do classes, Thud!, Doctor Who FunFax (surprise gift from
saganamidreams, the naughty woman, who'd also made a lovely, lovely card), mini-Maglite, cow things (moo to you too,
falena84), Sims2 from
siraj, Doctor Who calender and poster and of course the gift I opened way, way too early, namely my beloved Daleks from
highwindpav.
ME-RR-Y CHRIS-MAS!
Oh, and I see
lotus79 managed to sneak some paid LJ time on me. You sneaking sneak, you. Must also thank the whole bunch of you that sent smashing cards - adore you all!
Today is the day of The Christmas Invasion. So, so excited. If I make random noises today, just smack me.
Today is also the anniversary of the tsunami disaster, which hit Indonesia and other countries in the region so badly. Though not hit directly, many Western countries also lost people on vacation in the area. But in the aftermath of it, peace was agreed upon in Aceh for the first time in decades and aid poured in. If something good can be born out of tragedies, there is hope for a better world.
It seems to me as fitting a way to honour the dead as any.
Thailand holds tsunami memorials
Sweden remembers their dead, still bitter at government
Entertainment year in review
Gloomy end of year for Bush
Evolution gets science honour
And in sillier news - Cow flees Nativity scene (This happened in the city just fifteen minutes from where I live.)
"There's a lot of power in a good cow," Eriksson explained. "Even though our police officers pump iron, it's not easy for us to assume control over a cow weighing several hundred kilos."
Cow power!
