Cam Drools a Whole Lot
Dec. 26th, 2005 10:47 amSo, have seen Christmas Invasion.
Excuse me while I look undignified and drool.
Right. So...
Arthur Dent reference! Heh. And much, much tea!love. Not sure how I feel about Ten still. Need a couple of episodes to settle an opinion, but very excited, ain't he? (Winking and all.) Definite change from Nine. Hand!porn lives still, but the Doctor seems to have gone a bit more domestic, complete with paper hats and having meals with the family. Hum hum. Still hints of that edge to it, though. No second chances.
Torchwood! So that's what Jack will fiddle about in - speaking of which, no mentions of him in the ep, which just leaves the odd CiN mention. Hum. We'll see in series two, I guess.
And Harriet Jones. You know, from a slightly cynical viewpoint, I can see why she did it. And from the more idealistic me, I can see the Doctor's point of veiw too. Not sure what I would've done, really. Interesting thing to put into what's also a kid's program.
Wardrobe! That was brilliant. Love the design with the staircase and all. Quite liked the alien spaceship, too.
And of course, shippiness. From "I need you" to Mickey's "You really love him, don't you?", her crying at the loss of Nine and then falling for Ten and the realisation of him still being the Doctor, complete with a reinvitation to come with him in the TARDIS. Mmm. (And still I felt terribly sorry for Mickey. Ah, the irony.)
Then, eeeeevil previews from the second series. K-9! Queen Victoria! Scottish accent! Cybermen! "Give her back to me!" Snogging! (Rose looked to kiss very enthusiastically there. Gonna need an icon of that.)
Is it March yet?
I need more new Doctor icons now.

Date: 2005-12-27 05:29 am (UTC)I'm of the same mind. Part of my problem though, is that I can't help but see Tennant as Barty Crouch Jr. in GoF, trying to lick Snape's wand... Erm...that did not sound at all dirty in my mind. But, um, yeah, I am certainly willing to give Tennant a chance as I do so love Doctor Who.
Still hints of that edge to it, though. No second chances.
That was an interesting thing, wasn't it? I liked that very much. He's almost loose cannon-ish this time around. Not that the Ninth Doctor was predictable, it's just that the "no second chances" was done in a way that made Ten appear a little darker.
Anyhow, I'm ecstatic that it actually aired in Canada tonight! I thought we'd have to wait a while for it but yays to the CBC for coming through and playing it on Boxing Day.

Date: 2005-12-27 09:00 am (UTC)Yeah, it was definitely dark - Nine was colder-dark, I think, Ten is more.. I don't know, burning dark, maybe? We'll see how it plays out in the second series.
O Canada indeed!
