misscam: (Bush Looks Tired)

I did a LJseek on "Don't you think Bush looks tired?" and... ye Gods, how it's spead. [livejournal.com profile] evilstorm, you have truly sparked evilness. *wipes away a tear of joy at being the first to pass it on* I feel like a proud auntie.

Nicked from [livejournal.com profile] kerlin

My favorite story this year (of my own): Song For Rose

My best story this year: East of the Sun, West of the Moon.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Metamorphosis (Mostly because not as many people read Catherine/Warrick as Grissom/Sara, I suppose. But I really like that little story.)

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2005? Doctor Who, of course.

Most Fun story: The Official Fanfiction University of CSI

Sexiest story: Um, Observations on Geometry?

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Never a Choice. Threesome, only two of them are really the same person.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: The Passing of Seasons, mostly on Grissom.

Hardest story to write: Womb of Sky and Skin. Nick POV. I don't connect with Nick at all.

Biggest Disappointment: I wish I'd gotten a few more reviews of East of the Sun, West of the Moon and all, but mostly, I think it's been an okay year. Can't complain much. Besides, you always want more reviews than you get.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them? Yes. I wrote characters I didn't really feel I connected with - Nick, Brass -, I wrote threesomes (shut up, it's unexpcted for me), I wrote about uncomfortable subjects. I guess I learned that I can write about these things and that subtle goes a long, long way.

Biggest Surprise: That The Passing of Seasons got loved on as much as it did. Especially since a lot of it was written while I was Doctor Who distracted.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Butterflies Mate in Spring.

To sum up - 42 fics, mostly CSI or Doctor Who. Mostly shipperfic of a kind of another. Not a bad year, creative-wise.Humhum.

As promised for [livejournal.com profile] lotus79 - wrote a bit of DW fic. Don't know quite what it's becoming yet, but here's a bit for your - and any other interested people's - reading pleasure.

He shouldn't really love her, he knows.

Not because she's human, a species he insults on a daily basis, mostly because it makes him think more clearly. He doesn't care about that, not really. There are even times he forgets it, thinking of her as simply Rose, a species to herself.

Not because the Time Lords wouldn't stand for it. He never much listened to them and certainly not now, when all he can ever hear from them anymore is the dying echoes of flames. He was a rebel, now he is the survivor. The only thing he has left to rebel against is death itself.

Not because he doesn't do domestics. Rose isn't domestics, Rose is a lifeline. Her hand is skin and pulse when his heartbeats sound only like the start of a requiem. He needs her to smile and be overwhelmed so he can remember how it feels himself.

Not because there's Mickey. He's selfish enough not to care about Mickey, and tries to reason that Mickey never knew Rose, not the Rose he knows. Rose is better than beans on toast and telly and all the domestics humans seem content to live in. Rose was never Mickey's. Mickey just held an illusion of her for a while, and perhaps he should feel guilty he's torn through that like a storm, but he doesn't.

He shouldn't love her, but he does.

In ten years, she'll be twenty-nine, unless he kills her first by his lifestyle. He's lost companions before - to death, to love, to changes, to domestics. The losses all still hurt, but faded, like scars, drowned by the silence of Gallifrey. The silence is a wound, raw and gaping, and Rose is sound returned, laughter and questions and his name. And the TARDIS, humming thought time all the more loudly because Rose hears it.

He shouldn't really love her because he's afraid.

She will die. Gallifrey died, but he didn't know how silent it would be afterwards. Didn't know he would live and everyone else would die.

This time, he knows, and it terrifies him.

"Song for Rose" is my favorite thing of yours and I totally just pimped it to someone too, along with "Never a Choice." Hotness :)

I like the ficlet here too. Makes me sad, but in that nice kind of way good fic is supposed to make you sad.

Mmm. Pimping. We likes that, we do.

It won't all be sad, I swear. I promised [livejournal.com profile] lotus79 some naughtiness, so there shall be that.

I gotta admit I don't get the 'Doesn't Bush Look Tired' thing, but am getting the impression that it's linked to Dr. Who, so that would explain it.
Anyway... I'd prefer if he was retired.

It is.

Look away for spoilers, DW-minded people who haven't seen the Christmas Invasion yet!

Basically, the Doctor declares he can bring down the prime minister with just six words - "don't you think she looks tired?" - which starts the media speculating about her health and whether she's fit to run things, etc. It alludes to the whisper-campaign that made Margareth Thatcher resign.

You beat me, darn it. [shrugs] I think he was a bit of an ass for doing it, but meh. So it goes, right?

Oh, I like that idea.

The Doctor brought down the Prime Minister (or at least we think he might've) by whispering to her assistant "Don't you think she looks tired?" Rumors spread of illness, exhaustion, etc, and then they had a vote of no confidence. So we're hoping it'll work with Bush too.

Cool, yes, keep up the good work and dethrone Bush!

*is happy at meme spread* It's like the pinnacle of lj geekdom--to have started your own meme. But really you're the one responsible for spreading it, because my own little blog doesn't get much attention. Oh well. I'm just HAPPY that it's going around. *dances*

Your fanfic meme makes me feel ashamed at my own lazy not-doing-anything-ness. Ack.

I only passed it on, you invented it. Though I admit to a certain pride at being the first to do so. Muhahaha.

Lazy is bad, mmkay? :P
