Remind me again, why do I abuse myself with Taekwon-Do? Because ow. Oh right, because it's good for me. But why must things that are good for me include twenty push-ups on my knuckles?

Meanwhile, what the bloody hell is this about? Though this argues against that interpretation and raises some counter-points. So perhaps not as bad as it first look - I'm not enough of an expert of law to really say for certain.

Though this practice of hiding laws within other laws and thus getting them all passed without perhaps debate on all of them seems to me something that can lead to a lot a lot of shitty laws getting sneaked in.

Then again, not my country - in my country we're generally busy with other things of importance - like skiing.

In Doctor Who news, [livejournal.com profile] dark_aegis and yours truly have decided to do a featured Who writer of the week comm, where y'all can torture your favourite authors with questions, and maybe even discover some new authors you never got around to reading. We're still fiddling with the details, among them the comm name. So which do you like of the following?

[livejournal.com profile] dw_aow
[livejournal.com profile] dw_authors
[livejournal.com profile] dw_ficwriters
[livejournal.com profile] featuredwhovian
[livejournal.com profile] dw_writer_meet
[livejournal.com profile] whovian_author

(Or indeed if you have any other ideas you'd like to voice, please do.)

Goodfic rec of the day - Ghost in the Machine by Rain.

Happy birthday, darling [livejournal.com profile] falena84. May it be a good one, even away from home.

How about [livejournal.com profile] dw_authorshowcase? Just a thought.

And I've read Rain's story - very, very clever, thought-provoking and way beyond anything I could ever come up with. Good recommendation!

Oh, well, obviously my suggestion is too long - so forget that! *grins*

Twenty push-ups on your knuckles? Major ouch!

But I'm really impressed. I think I wouldn't even manage one proper push-up -- I'd just go splat and land on my stomach (which would be a very soft landing, at least...).

And I, too, consider [livejournal.com profile] featuredwhovian to be a neat idea for a name.

They're pretty evil, and I'm pretty sure at least one of them I did bump down on my knees. But because it's practice twice a week, you either die or get into shape fairly quickly.

Seems to be the most popular choice so far, it does.

I'd opt for dying, methinks. It sounds easier and far less painful.

I can't even do push-ups. I'm so weak.

Oh, you aren't the only one - couldn't do them myself when I was younger.

Push ups are evil. Just wait until you get to cho dan bo and black belt. Then you'll be actually expected to be able to do them.

Instructor: Rosalie! Run faster, you're a cho dan bo now!
Me: Shut up. *shakes fist*

Weird law, sounds lke they bungled the writing of it. I'm on the fence about piggybacking laws on unrelated ones to get them passed--some good laws have been passed that way, and some bad laws have been prevented from passing by tacking on something ludicrous to them...but it gets abused too often, such as good laws prevented by tacking on ridiculous laws, etc.

(Package recieved, btw, thanks :)

Only tangentally related, but I am absolutely blaming you for a freaky weird CSI/Dr. Who crossover dream I had when I've never seen an episode of Dr. Who.

I'm sure it can have its uses, I'm just a cynical untrusting kind of person when it comes to the US government.

Package was slow, damn.

And sounds like my plotbunny visited your dream, hee. Do give some details.

Oh geez. OK, remember I did describe this as a freaky weird dream. Anyway, from what I can remember, somehow someone hijacked the Doctor's body while he was in the midst of regenerating...so it started off with Nine, but it was Ten that ended up hijacked. For some reason, Grissom knew about this, and I have the sneaking suspicion that the Doctor was temporarily deposited somewhere in poor Grissom's head because Grissom was apparently having serious health problems of an unknown source, and he knew things he just shouldn't about the Doctor and the hijacking. He was also gifted with a big bottle of macadamia nut liquer, curse him. Things started getting excessively odd right around there, but I think the CSIs were dispatched to track down hijacked-Ten, who was disguising himself as someone else (whatever he was using to change his voice wasn't syncing with his disguise--he sounded like he was a walking bad dub of a kung fu movie). He also had a rather interesting submarine thing he was using to escape. Woke up right around there.

Out of those, I'd prolly go with featuredwhovian.

Tae Kwon Do, eh? I used to do Judo when I was younger, but I hated it.

*needs to start getting some weekly exercise though. Ponders*

[livejournal.com profile] featuredwhovian, definitely. I used to do judo, and the pushups drove me crazy. Dad and I both stopped when Dad hurt his bac falling wrong, but I'd kinda like to get back into it...
