Ways to wake Cam up in the morning?

Write a comment about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that propels her into rage.

Be an idiot who doesn't capitalizes.

Be very dedicated to your ship in the face of bad news. Very. (Or, if you're not registered at YTDAW, you can get some taste of it here, starting near the bottom with "Death. To. TV. Guide". Oy. And I am on that ship and everything.)

Call pro-choicers Nazis in an abortion discussion. (If not a GAFF member, the gist of it is offered here.)

Any of these would work, but I seem destined to get them all in one glorious morning. Oy. Didn't help that I spent the night before watching Sense and Sensibility, Galaxy Quest and Shaun of the Dead (the commentary there is gold, with several Doctor Who references. Hee) and the combination did weird things to my already flu-fighting brain. I hope I never have dreams about romantic entangles of zombies again. Oy.

The TV Guide article is...irritating at the least. I think there's probably quite a bit of spin on there. It's still worrying me, though. I still intend to watch (when it's aired here!) though, because this is a definite case of wait and see. For all we know, TPTB might have something awesome up their sleeves. [/optimism]

Oh, I'm sure some of it is spin, given what has not come to pass in the show before, despite reports in the TV Guide.

But good grief, the wangst over it. I like the ship, I write fanfic for that ship, but the wangst and banners and what-not seem just a liiiiiiittle excessive.

Still, one way to let the steam out, I suppose.

Shaun of the Dead is just <3. I don't like most of the traditional horror films, but the RomZomCom was much too amusing, especially once you add in the DVD extras.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to click on all these interesting links, though I absolutely had to read the Berlusconi one.

*is very ashamed that her country is represented worldwide by such a fool*

You know, the good thing about living in France is I don't have to watch Berlusconi's ugly mug on the news every bloody day, and, above all, I don't get to see the rest of the world laughing its arse off whenever that fuckwit makes of fool of himself (and, by extension, of my country).

Now I think I'll go buy myself some Italian press and enjoy the wank.

*pats* I feel your pain. We do have idiots in our government, though not quite on that scale. But Berlusconi won't be forever - who knows, if he's abstaining for sex, maybe he'll die from blue balls.

Whee sockpuppets. Sockpuppets are amusing when you catch'em in the act, and then you get to mock them as they tangle themselves up in their own words.

...Seriously, have these people not heard of Godwin's Law? Do they know how stupid they look when they end up invoking it? What the hell.

Next time, I think, we shall just give you coffee instead. *nods sagely*

I do have to say, that article kind of killed Grissom for me, spin or no. Like, it's no longer that his character is socially inept toward Sara, it's that he is an actual asshole.

Vartann/Sara for me, yay!

LMAO, the banners weren't there last night. TOO FUNNY.

Date: 2006-01-31 03:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] misscam.livejournal.com
I'll wait till I see it, but the writing of Grissom hasn't done much for me for quite some time, anyhoo.

*clings to her Doctor Who instead*

Those are a riot. Makes one wonder what banners will appear after the ep has aired. I shall be watching.

I'd comment about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but what's the point? Particularly in that situation. How do you change the minds of people who have been blinded to the realities of the other side and who have been fed a daily regimen of propoganda? How does one gain perspective given the circumstances?

I have to quote my darling Mathieu Kassovitz: "Vous êtes des assassins. Vous tirez, c'est facile. Nous n'avons pas d'armes, nous n'avons que des cailloux."

Finally, someone else who adores Mathieu Kassovitz.

I think I love you.

From: [identity profile] briasoleil.livejournal.com
I've adored the man since the first time I saw La Haine. He has a blog! Did you know? I went all rapturous about it the other week or so. He has a blog! Mathieu Kassovitz has a blog!

Have you seen any of his films where he was the director or do you know him through his acting?

AMELIE all the freaking way.

::sighs unabashedly::

From: [identity profile] briasoleil.livejournal.com
He has a central role in his first full-length feature, Métisse (aka Café au lait in English), and a small bit in La Haine, which is probably the film that put him on the map. He's been in a number of his father's films.

But everybody knows him as Nino Quincampoix. Uber-adorable boyfriend-to-be. I'm sad that he's giving up acting.

Seriously, I have such a huge crush on the man.

*shrugs* I like to at least try. Maybe it's my Norwegian naivite shining through. We seem to be rather stuck on the idea that peace is possible and people can learn to talk to each other.

He might be onto something there, Mr. Kassovitz. Sadly.

Date: 2006-02-01 05:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] briasoleil.livejournal.com
Oh, I think we should try. But at a certain point, particularly with this discussion, the only reply ever given seems to be one of "you're critical of Israel? You're a anti-semitic nazi!" *sigh*

I'd like to believe that peace is possible. But it won't be until justice is achieved. And for that to happen, so many things need to change. Attitudes, prejudice, not to mention the occupation.

What's worse is that quote was meant to give weight to the situation of immigrants (and children/grandchildren of...) in the Paris suburbs. Kassovitz was making an obvious parallel, particularly since it's an Arab who yells it to the French riot police. But yes, it's an allusion and one that's still pertinent.

Haha, you missed her trying to defend herself in the comm again. My head's getting all desky now.

By the way, I'm going to have a music post later that you're going to want to snag. Doctor Who and Bush-bashing in one song! And, y'know, cool music.

There's a certain point where I thought most wankers just threw up their hands and said "yeah, you caught me. Sorry." Apparently not. Course, that might be cause the other two posts I made detailing my "evidence" are still f-locked. [rolls eyes] At the very least it's been entertainment for my friends and my family.

Frank is a twat.

Also, I am so sick of that particular Old Testament quote being offered. Do people read what *else* is in that Old Testament section? Cripes, it's full of crack, with today's eyes.

Does he mix his fabrics, touch and/or consume pig, grow different crops side by side? Dude, the Old Testament is so fucked up. Not that the New Testament is much better. But still.

Also, separation of church and state. It's not a hard concept to grasp. No religion, even Christianity, gets to determine what is law.

I hate stupid people. And I hate bigots more.

In the tea room, I explained my Plan for Middle East Peace, which comprised Israel building free combined hospital-schools in the occupied territories and employing lots of Palestinians to work in them. This would not only be brilliant PR, it would mean stealing Hamas' social services kudos. (Cynical remarks about how said buildings would be excellent targets for US forces ensued.)
