Waking Cam, Zombies and News
Jan. 31st, 2006 03:31 pmWays to wake Cam up in the morning?
Write a comment about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that propels her into rage.
Be an idiot who doesn't capitalizes.
Be very dedicated to your ship in the face of bad news. Very. (Or, if you're not registered at YTDAW, you can get some taste of it here, starting near the bottom with "Death. To. TV. Guide". Oy. And I am on that ship and everything.)
Call pro-choicers Nazis in an abortion discussion. (If not a GAFF member, the gist of it is offered here.)
Any of these would work, but I seem destined to get them all in one glorious morning. Oy. Didn't help that I spent the night before watching Sense and Sensibility, Galaxy Quest and Shaun of the Dead (the commentary there is gold, with several Doctor Who references. Hee) and the combination did weird things to my already flu-fighting brain. I hope I never have dreams about romantic entangles of zombies again. Oy.
In other news:
Ex-Enron boss upheat over trial
Razzie nominations
Berlusconi not to have sex before election
Hamas win sparks soul-searching
Libya shuts embassy in Denmark
Top Gear-Jeremy in Norway (Can't help but laugh at his article, despite him kicking Norway some.)
Kenyans refuse 'dog-food' aid
Health workers may get more refusal rights
Moose does river surf

Date: 2006-01-31 03:12 pm (UTC)But good grief, the wangst over it. I like the ship, I write fanfic for that ship, but the wangst and banners and what-not seem just a liiiiiiittle excessive.
Still, one way to let the steam out, I suppose.

You know, the good thing about living in France is I don't have to watch Berlusconi's ugly mug on the news every bloody day, and, above all, I don't get to see the rest of the world laughing its arse off whenever that fuckwit makes of fool of himself (and, by extension, of my country).
Now I think I'll go buy myself some Italian press and enjoy the wank.

Date: 2006-01-31 03:09 pm (UTC)Whee sockpuppets. Sockpuppets are amusing when you catch'em in the act, and then you get to mock them as they tangle themselves up in their own words.
...Seriously, have these people not heard of Godwin's Law? Do they know how stupid they look when they end up invoking it? What the hell.
Next time, I think, we shall just give you coffee instead. *nods sagely*

Date: 2006-01-31 03:15 pm (UTC)I don't drink coffee, sadly. So I guess the Universe decided to wake me up in other ways.

LMAO, the banners weren't there last night. TOO FUNNY.

Those are a riot. Makes one wonder what banners will appear after the ep has aired. I shall be watching.

Date: 2006-01-31 03:48 pm (UTC)I have to quote my darling Mathieu Kassovitz: "Vous êtes des assassins. Vous tirez, c'est facile. Nous n'avons pas d'armes, nous n'avons que des cailloux."

Date: 2006-01-31 05:08 pm (UTC)I think I love you.

Date: 2006-02-01 07:05 am (UTC)But everybody knows him as Nino Quincampoix. Uber-adorable boyfriend-to-be. I'm sad that he's giving up acting.
Seriously, I have such a huge crush on the man.

Date: 2006-01-31 07:52 pm (UTC)He might be onto something there, Mr. Kassovitz. Sadly.

Date: 2006-02-01 05:59 am (UTC)I'd like to believe that peace is possible. But it won't be until justice is achieved. And for that to happen, so many things need to change. Attitudes, prejudice, not to mention the occupation.
What's worse is that quote was meant to give weight to the situation of immigrants (and children/grandchildren of...) in the Paris suburbs. Kassovitz was making an obvious parallel, particularly since it's an Arab who yells it to the French riot police. But yes, it's an allusion and one that's still pertinent.

Date: 2006-01-31 04:03 pm (UTC)By the way, I'm going to have a music post later that you're going to want to snag. Doctor Who and Bush-bashing in one song! And, y'know, cool music.

Date: 2006-01-31 07:58 pm (UTC)Also, I am so sick of that particular Old Testament quote being offered. Do people read what *else* is in that Old Testament section? Cripes, it's full of crack, with today's eyes.

Date: 2006-02-01 06:04 am (UTC)Also, separation of church and state. It's not a hard concept to grasp. No religion, even Christianity, gets to determine what is law.
I hate stupid people. And I hate bigots more.
