Hey, any DW writers wanting to do a fic easter egg exchange? Could be a fun lead-up to the new series, and also, if there was any particular kind of fic you'd so wanted to see, you could request it. (Like a kinderegg - ask for three things.) I'd be willing to do a few for people on my flist, anyhoo.

"Can we copyright GSR?"
Apparently, calling the Grissom/Sofia pairing GSR is abuse of the Grissom/Sara pairing. Or something. Okay, so stumbling across the wrong pairing can be a bit annoying when you're looking for something in particular, but I don't think there's actually trademark protection for CSI shipnames. (If there were, I'd so want to work there, just so I could tell people they weren't approved for being utterly idiotic names. I like my pleasures bitchy sometimes, what can I say.)
Have I mentioned yet how happy I am the Doctor/Rose ship hasn't been named something cutesy like "DoRo" or "RoDo"? Because I very much am.
Berlin dressed in Nazi symbols for film shooting - but someone forgot to warn locals and tourists (You can peek at pictures here.)
Ooops. I know how that feels - I went into Oslo for a trip some years back, walked out of the train station and came face to face with the University covered in Nazi flags. Plus people in military garb of the time, so I was all "WTF? Did I just time travel there?" for a moment, until I realised they were shooting for a series on Knut Hamsun.
Link I got from
redscharlach - Viking! (A Romance Novel) I still haven't stopped laughing at the excerpt. The author has also written "The Very Virile Viking" and "My Fair Viking" and oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I've seen native Americans as a romance fetish before, as well as the "Orient", but Vikings? My pillaging, mead-drinking, beserking forefathers? Okay then! (Then again, shouldn't be surprised. People - including me - also fancy Scots. I've sworn to shag one before I die. Kilt is optional. The accent is not.)
On an odd note - these last two weeks I've had like seven reviews on "Moonlight", a one-shot I wrote in 2001 set in the Zelda-verse. What's with all these sudden reviews? Did someone rec it somewhere or something? Very odd.
Finally, have had quite a few new people add me to their flist of late, so I offer this meme if you have something you'd like to know about me (or if you're old and curious as well):
Ask me a question about EACH of the following:
- Friends
- Sex
- Music
- Religion
- Love
- Livejournal
Then post this in your journal and see what questions you get asked.

Date: 2006-03-07 02:10 pm (UTC)Sorry for the rant..bit of a touchy thing with me.
I so missed your posts! I should have known starting a community would severely limit my time to stalk other people's journals!

Date: 2006-03-07 02:32 pm (UTC)South Dakota is only doing it to get it to the Supreme Court so every state can follow their example (not that every state will, of course). Joy.
As a Norwegian, I must admit I don't get it at all. Someone tried to fiddle with the right to choose for the woman here and there would be outrage.

Date: 2006-03-07 02:19 pm (UTC)As for the fic, would of course love to see you write something, but I love everything you write so there's really no need to fence you in by telling you what to do.
Question time: How did you first hear about Livejournal?

Date: 2006-03-07 02:34 pm (UTC)Oh, LJ... THat was so many years ago I'm not quite sure. I think it was
Nice icon, heh.

Date: 2006-03-07 02:23 pm (UTC)But then, it would only take a few of those flags to turn Munich into a film setting for a Nazi movie. It's simply unbelievable how many pseudo-monumental Third Reich buildings tare still around, simply because it was way cheaper after the war to let them stand and reuse them for another purpose. Well, if they ever decide to do that here, I hope we'll get a proper warning in time...
Then again, shouldn't be surprised. People - including me - also fancy Scots. I've sworn to shag one before I die. Kilt is optional. The accent is not.
Does the Viking romance novel mention some sexy Old Norse accent then? Might explain a lot. :D
And I think an easter egg fic exchange for Doctor Who is a neat idea! Not only for the egotistical reason that my birthday will be on Good Friday this year; thus taking part will be for me almost the same as getting a belated birthday surprise. ;)

Date: 2006-03-07 02:39 pm (UTC)No, the novel has them sounding like something vaguely Byronesque. I find it all very, very amusing.
Heh, neat. Sadly for me, there's never many ficathons in February. (Unless I start one myself.)

Date: 2006-03-07 02:25 pm (UTC)Poor Clay Aiken. I can't imagine the mentality of people who would want to sue a guy 'cause he's not asexual? I mean, what? And as for South Dakota...well. I heard some people there were campaigning for them to ban male masturbation next 'cause it's a waste of good, life-giving sperm. *snorts*
no subject
Date: 2006-03-07 02:40 pm (UTC)My boyfriend thought this was quite funny - except he saays that they shouldn't ban it - they should force the men to keep the sperm and raise it...

Questions:
Friends - So how'd you get sucked into
the giant time suckLivejournal?Sex - Well, I was going to ask who your Imaginary Celebrity Boyfriend is, but doh! I know the answer to that one. So...who is your most embarrassing ICB?
Music - Recommend me a band I might not have heard of?
Religion - Devout, Supermarket, Apatheist (don't know, don't care), or Anti-religion?
Love - How old were you the first time you fell in love?
no subject
Date: 2006-03-07 02:50 pm (UTC)Right, answers...
Friends -
Sex - I have many, many ICBs, but most embassrassing of all is probably Sean Connory, who is old enough to be my grandfather and who I still fancy the
kiltpants off.Music - Kings of Convenience
Religion - atheist, flavoured with "why, this religion thing is really fascinating and teaches us a lot about humanity" and the ocassional agnostic moment.
Love - I was 14 and silly.

Also in the "sex is bad! Let's outlaw it!" category, there's a bill in Tennessee which is trying to outlaw the sale, use and "exhibition"--whatever the frell THAT is--of dildos.
The proponents don't seem very clear on what a dildo is; they seem to think that it will destroy family values, and that's enough for them. Because God forbid that women be able to get any sexual satisfaction without a man.
On what basis do you sue a celebrity for not being an asexual virgin? How does this wrong the fans in any way, shape or form?
Sigh. I do apologize for my country. I swear to you, not all Americans are batshit insane. Unfortunately, the batshit insane ones tend to hit the news reports.
It's been so many years since I've seen the Doctor. Wish I could play. It sounds like a wonderful idea.
How did you get into Doctor Who?

Date: 2006-03-07 02:59 pm (UTC)widdle cellsOMGBabies!, doesn't even get near the eggs unless you do it really, really, really wrongly and harms no one? WTF? I mean, when I have a teenager daughter, I'd rather she find pleasure in a dildo than sleep around a lot, you know? You don't get bloody safer sex than on your own.My mind boggles very, very hard.
And yeah, I know. I have some great Americans friends, which I try to remind myself of everytime I read the news. Then again, Europe's got our own batshit too, so it's hardly an American phenomenon.
I got into Doctor Who when a Norwegian TV channel picked up the revived 2005 series (which is now going to be broadcasted in the US on scifi starting March 17th.) It's a great show, so if you ever have a chance of seeing it, take it. (Though the Britishness of intentional cheese of it can take a little bit of getting used to.)

- Livejournal

Date: 2006-03-07 08:12 pm (UTC)Sex - I once dated a guy who found girls who wore rubber boots (actual rubber boots for rainy days, not those sexed-up things) a great turn-on. I indulged his fantasies now and then.
Music - Those are lies spread by Bush in the vain hope that if everyone tries to accordian-seduce me, I'll get so turned off I'll eventually turn to him.
Religion - L. Ron Hubbard's scientology texts. In terms of length, thickness of books and batshitness, few can compete, and fewer less can compete on all those levels.
Love - In lust. Less painful, less complications, and I'm still young.
LJ - I'm a sad little icon addict.
