Seriously, character bashing because the character is remotely in the way of your OTP or came in because your favourite actor quit and there's a new guy about just gets on my nerves and makes me love them out of a sense of contrary. And we needn't increase my sense of contrary today, nooo.

Ow, dammit.

I am third generation Polish...my dad's parents used to tell people they were German until WWI (they lived in this tiny town with three primary populations...French, German, and Polish...it was an attempt to increase their social status). As to the tenbashing and dodgy fiction, I refer you to my friend cinnamongrrl who states very clearly that "Mediocrity is not it's on genre" :-) Perhaps some sort of icon or banner we can all display against bad fanfic is needed?

This I find slightly insulting. I'm an umpteenth generation Canadian, and my grandfather fought in the second WW and was also posted in Newfoundland. I do happen to know what Auschwitz is and what it stands for; A lot of my friends do as well. I also sometimes shudder when I'm watching the opening scene for X-Men when I see the smoke stack.

Then again, maybe they're talking about some Americans who don't go further outside their little world, much less their State. I don't know, but as for renaming it to make sure what the association with the Nazi's is just sad that they think they have to/have to do that.

Things have been a bit dental in my family too lately, as my brother's soon to get braces, and the orthodontist will be able to get himself another luxury yacht. Poor fella. He may have got the good physique, but I got the good teeth.
