Brrrr, brrr, brrr. Might be spring, but mornings here are still bloody cold. Especially when you have to get up to let in the cat, who then decides to warm his cold paws on you.

Pretend for a minute that the only contact you have ever had with me is through my fics. We've never exchanged LJ comments or emails, never hung out in chat or on AIM, never talked on the phone or met each other in person, none of that stuff. And then there's also Requiem, Knallhart (Tough as Nails), Der Rote Kakadu (The Red Kakadu), Die Große Stille (The Big Silence) and other shiny things. Probably (and unfortunately), they will never make it to international screens, but I await their DVD release here eagerly so that I can watch them at last.

"Who's Romana?"

He stops, going still, as if all the energy in him has frozen and he's just waiting.

"Did you love her?" she goes on, knowing she's already pushing it.

"Yes," he says, harshly, darkly, and she feels a little cold.

"Did she die?"

"Yes."

She looks at the floor, but she feels his gaze on her, burning with something she's not sure what is.

"More you'd like to know? Shall I tell you about Tegan? Jo? Grace? Leela? Everyone? Do you want a list and start comparing?"

"No," she mutters, and hears his footsteps approach, feels his fingers on her chin tilt her head up to see his face. The anger there seems distant, as if not truly at her.

"Don't ask, Rose," he says, and leaves her no breath to answer, kissing her hard. Not quite a punishment, not quite a caress, and she can feel the restraint in him until she brushes her tongue against his, and then that is gone too.

She doesn't ask again, but she does wonder.

She doesn't want to die. She doesn't want him to die either, and she does know which of the two she would choose, but it's not romantic. It's just despair and anger and fear.

"Don't you dare," the Doctor says, eyes wild. She smiles at him, because he knows as well as she does that she does dare, just as he would.

"Yes," she says, and looks at him one last time. "Yes."

She jumps.

She can hear her name screamed all the way down.

"I'm alive," she whispers, feeling the pain as a relief.

"Yes."

She licks her lips. "What did you do?"

"You're not dying for me, Rose," he says fiercly, clutching her hand so hard it hurts. "I wouldn't let you then, I'm not letting you now."

"I..."

"You're not," he says again, a command spoken, and then he nuzzles his head against her neck, his breath so warm and ragged.

Alas, I must also do some work. So bloody inconvenient, ain't it?

This is a kiss, she decides. His lips find her upper lip, applying pressure ever so gently until she parts her lips, and his mouth is warm against hers. His skin scratches a little, and she knows her skin will feel raw long after, but right now it's just another sensation, mingling with the feel of his teeth against her tongue, the low hum in the back of his throat, his hand on her back and her thigh rubbing slightly against his through cloth.

I think.... I would be a little... or more than a little frightened. I kind of was, and of the PPC, but mainly you. (Whose caps-lock of rage letter was sadly, on my aol account, but which I will try to reproduce)

Of course, after turning up at said agency some time ago, and subsequently, at your Lj, I realize (I think...) that my fears were unfounded. Probably. I hope. Well... you don't eat people, anyway. ^^

-ouch, that hurt - not like I can't feel it commuting 3,000 miles/month on this side of the pond...but the good 'ole homeland still want me to tax there as well after 8 years. SO not gonna happen, pay enough taxes over here.

Huh, I didn't know that but it makes pretty much sense for me. I find it alright because the reality in the DDR wasn't that rosy as most of my compatriots (hopefully that's the right term for "Landsleute"... it sounds so patriotic :/ ) try to pretend. I think you should always see both sides of the medal and there may be some good things in the DDR but there were loads of bad things, too. There are films like "Die Ostshow" and so on but they always concentrate on the nice things and forget to mention that the DDR too was a totalitarian system. And while the good things are always memorized, the bad things are forgotten (if you don't count this silly Stasi-debate before Olympia. I couldn't understand why they started with it almost TWENTY years afterwards. They should have thought about some things right from the beginning).
