A tale of eyerolling
May. 5th, 2006 01:05 pmCSI shippers already heading for the trenches
Oh, it's going to be some fun weeks of much wank and eyerolling, oh yes. I've got the drinks ready.
Now, let me introduce you to a tale of the stupidity of Norwegian customs. So, I get the mail today, and my large BBC package has arrived in the country. Yay. However, as expected, I will have to pay taxes on it. First eyeroll of the day - the bill comes to about 5/12ths of what I paid for the package in the first place. Second eyeroll of the day, 1/3rd of this tax total is "taxing service", and that comes with an additional service tax of 25%. But okay, I was expecting this (I have dealt with customs before, oh yes), and I'll pay it, albeit while eyerolling. Then I notice my surname is wrong. I'm now "Sandem" (how do you do?). Also, they've actually failed to include *the street number*. How the heck the postman managed to deliver it correctly with the wrong surname and only the streetname without a number, I don't know. I applaud him or her. And inside the envelope, attached to the bill, is a copy of the BBC order sheet - with my name spelt correctly and the streetnumber right there. (Maybe postie looked?)
Well done, Norwegians customs! Brilliant, truly. If I have to cough up cash I'm very fond of, the least they could do was get my name right. The indignity... The BBC pwns your accuracy level. Pwns, I say! I love you, BBC. I don't love you, Norwegian customs. But I do love you, Norway.
So, for some reason I've been friended by
harryhunting, which I don't quite get, since I'm not active in Harry Potter fandom, and I very rarely write slash, but... Okay.
Finally, if anyone wants a 17th of May card from me - Norway's national day, for the unaware - send me an e-mail with your address to camilla.sandman at gmail dot com and you shall get one.
