Oh my! I was born in a town less than half an hour away from Poulsbo, where that thing about Miss Viking took place! I think I mentioned how they have "Viking Fest" every year in a comment to you a while ago. (We moved across the country and I don't really have any friends or family back there, so I don't keep up with the local news.)

The controversy doesn't really surprise me, though. There was a lot of racism out there. (And quite a lot of illegal drug use, too.) But I'll say one thing for them - the western part of Washington state has very nice trees and lovely mountains.
