Man, CSI fandom is in for a looooong summer. Spoilers for the finale below.
GSRers are spoiled children. Spoiled, I say!:
It is interesting to think that TPTB didn't know this would cause such a stir. The GSR fans wrote because they weren't getting what they wanted. Like spoiled little children CBS gave it to them. I have read Lisa's letter to the TV critic, read the other letters and writen one myself. What I wonder about is why would CBS assume that GSR is the voice of viewers? If they have been in this business for a long time they should know that "Most of the people who write in" are not most of the viewers. If the show was #1 in the ratings what on earth made them think they needed to change it?

And for the scene itself, I’m still left with the impression that this ‘new’ Gil away from work (that was shown this time) is really an old pampas-ass that likes to hear himself talk and just might be a cross dressing in that ugly robe/kimono/shirt he had on. His little speech is something you hear on someone’s death bed, “Oh I wish I did this or that.” Well what in the heck is stopping him from doing any of those things now?

But something is amiss here, for sure. Watching his interviews, on Friday and the week before, he seemed different. I attributed that to grief and I still think that has taken a toll. There was no animation as he spoke; he seemed almost to resent the questions. My thought was that he just feeding us the company line, as was Marg, and I am sorry to see that from both. No way do I believe they were sincere. I just don't understand.
Damage control is one thing, but this was something else. I can't name it. I agree with spankme, and all of you, who felt insulted and disrespected by his words. And at the risk of sounding like a psycho, I feel hurt.

Just want to set the facts straight as this has come up a lot these last few days about Gil’s moral character – when Gil stayed the night/day with Heather, she WAS NOT A SUSPECT. Watch that show again for the timeline. She was the employer of two dead guys and was helping Gil in his investigation. It was afterwards, the tea time scene that the fact that she took insulin raised the red flag in Gil’s mind that she MIGHT be connected to the murders because the dead guys had high amounts of insulin and they are not diabetics.
What we have seen and been told about Gil for 6 seasons was his moral integrity was above reproach and he would never do anything to comprise his reputation and the labs. This is why there is an out cry for what we saw the other night as Gil has been exposed as a fraud especially after ragging on Catherine last year for wanting a life outside of work.
Maybe the only show I would watch next season is one where Lady Heather comes back and ask for his help in finding out if her grandbaby is alive. I’m sure with the death of her daughter she will have soften and will be open to starting over with Gil thus throwing a monkey wrench into his love life

I figure everyone needs a second chance sometimes in life. Sometimes decisions are made in haste or because we feel like we are running out of time so we take what is easy. So I think this would be a good song for Gil to listen to and be thankful he has such an amazing woman around in his life.

So it was Evil cross-dressing Grant in that bedroom yapping about himself and not the Gil we know. We all know that Gil has a taste for the fine things in life so the dead give away is that hideous robe/shirt/whatever the frick it was. And would the Gil we have seen in the past 6 years want to see any women in a cotton granny nightgown? Good Lord, a T-shirt is sexier. Heebie jeebies that bed attire was and most likely why Billy said that talk was like an old married couple, ahh yeah like two people in their frick'n 80’s. Someone shoot me now and put and end to this maddness. But then again Billy said something to the fact Gil (really we know it was Evil Grant) yapping in that scene/their relationship was not sexual in nature, well duh not with what we saw, it was more like platonic.
Now, for my beloved Doctor Who - Age of Steel spoilers below.
Doctor Who: James "Genius" Bond? It did strike me a bit with the tux and particulary the scene on the ladder from the zeppelin. Didn't quite need that one, thanks. The way to kill the Cybermen was rather horrific in its implications and sparked some really nasty story ideas, but they didn't really need to have heads exploding to get the point across, sheesh. But David Tennant was looking fiiiiine and Mickey was love, and he's off to have fun adventures in Paris with a blond. That'll help him get over Rose, no doubt. Speaking of Rose, this series is being a bit alienating with regards to her. Probably a part of making the series more Doctor-centric again, but it might be overkill. We'll see.
And this series is feeling disjointed, isn't it? Maybe I'm too attached to story arcs and red threads running through. But while I've enjoyed several individual episodes, I'm not sure how I feel about the series as a package yet. Still, we got half to go. I want something meaty to come, okay DW writers? Good, good.

I got to thinking a bit about the hierarchy of fanfic writing yesterday - see, I wasn't all drunk! - and really, you could write a whole sociology paper on how it all works. Obviously, the bottom dwellers are revealed plagiarists, but after that it gets a bit more complicated. And of course it varies a bit with fandom - CSI is different to Who, and they're both different from LotR etc - with to what degree the really good writers float to the top. And if we're honest, we have all at one point thought some writer or another seem to get high status rather wrongly, because the writing is oh so crap to us. Because the quality of the writing isn't decide all on it. Force of personality, circle of friends, willingness to review or help other writers, all these things can play in to. And sometimes it just seems random. (Then of course I started pondering my own status, mostly because I was downright asked if I was reasonably high in it all. Hum.) But humans are so humans everywhere, really, even in little online communities. Even there rules for social behaviour are created, and you get leaders and followers and outsides and rebels. And mean girls.
And on a mean girl note, while it does turn out some Doctor Who writers poke about the world of fanfic - and OMG, I haven't recovered from that one yet - that does not mean they're nicking ideas for the show from fanfic. Okies? Trust me on this.
Finally, Russians are not happy. Ahahahaha.
Oh yes, and thank for the love in the last post. Um, yes. I was being a wee bit silly when I posted that. It's the hosts of Eurovision's fault. They keps saying "amazing", so I had to keep drinking. Someone get them a thesaurus, please.

Okay, I'm getting a leeetle ticked at the writers with this. They made her rather awesome in the first series (with the exception of her screw-up in Father's Day) and now they're kinda forgetting that and it's confusing the hell outta me. They pushed Nine and Rose together in S1, and now it's like they're using a bloody crowbar to wrench them apart. Make up your minds, TPTB!

Nothing happens at random. Looks don't happen on accident. That's why there are people called "Directors" who work very closely with the people known as "Writers" and the people who produce money called "Producers". And all of these people know the actors very well and yes, know the characters better than anyone else. "ZOMG!!! TPTB made a MISTAKE!!! AHHH WAAAAAAAMBULANCE!!!!" My lord, people. If Catherine/Grissom happened, I'd be disappointed, but I wouldn't be as... wanky. It kind of makes me want to disconnect the internet.
I donno... I'm not as big into fandom as I was, so I can't really say much.
