I went into the depths of RP fandom and I'm scared.

I came across a place where the people insist two certain LotR actors are a happy, gay couple, and stay in the closet because the evil PR people force them too. Oh yeah, and there was something about messages through cloth colours, too.

Whaaaaaaat?

Granted, I don't know said actors, so they could very well be gay for all I know, and quite frankly, I don't really care (their life, their sex), but creating message boards devoted to this belief and posting speculation on their personal life and sex habits? Insisting only they know the truth and all who don't see it are homophobes? Oy vey.

My widdle brain hurts.

Gyah! Like the sexual preference of an actor was anyone else's business. I never cared, after all, my chances of getting together with my lust object de jour are about the same regardless of their gender preference (zilch. So what their preference is is irrelevent, I'll just imagine them any way I want, so there is no point in arguing one way or another.

That has to be, I think, the main reason I avoid RPF... it just seems like a violation of privacy for the RP involved.

Discover "domlijah," did you? *shakes head* Be they gay or straight, that's just... not right. If it's true, then it's true. But having something dedicated to the sex lives of anyone is odd to me. I mean, honestly...

It's not so much that they speculate in these people's lives - we all do that - but this maddning belief that they know 'the truth', and the truth is that these two LotR actors are in a commited same sex relationship, yet are forced to be in the closet by the weeevil PR people, but send messages about their reltionship to these true believers via the colours of the clothes they wear.

I mean, good grief.

And then they get going on the rest of the Fellowship... Oy vey vey.

Heh. Yeah, we all speculate, but if I think [insert random person here] likes to [insert random activity here] and the ideas are rather unfounded, then I certainly won't go about professing it to be gospel or anything, you know.

By their logic, one could say some rather untrue things about me along those same lines. I like the color purple, triangles and rainbows. I have said that other women were "gorgeous" (and other such adjectives) before, slept in the same bed as other women, held hands with, slow danced with, hugged, kissed on the cheek, showered (although it was a type of group shower, but not for school as I was homeschooled) and so on with other women.

One could add all that up to mean that I'm either bisexual or a lesbian. But I'm not. As I'm sure you've noticed, I'm rather more attracted to the males of our species. ;) I could never see myself in a romantic relationship with another female, so I suppose I'm not bisexual, either. And I have no PR people breathing down my neck, so I think I'm reasonably free to say that I am if I, in fact, was.

*shrugs* It's all in how you look at things. These people obviously want these actors and characters to be gay, so they'll find some way to "prove" that their suspicions are well founded. I find that it's very easy to read just about anything into just about anything...

But I quite agree with you that it's maddening. :P

Ah, Miss Cam! So you've discovered The Cult of Domlijah too! *g* I had the misfortune to stumble onto them awhile ago. People like these make me regret I ever said anything bad about RPS, because really, it's stuff like this that's delusional to the MAX. RPS is regarded as fiction at least. Have you found DL_Anon yet? It's a good place to vent, and make fun of their scary delusional posts. And it's nice to see that not everyone is swallowing this stuff hook, line and sinker.

LOL! That's the same reason I'm hanging around, too! :D I especially love the latest speculation that, Orlando dating a girl = gay, and Orlando not dating a girl = gay. *shakes head* Whatever it is these people are smoking, it should be obliterated from the face of this earth.
