Go Germany!

WIIIIIIIIIN! Dull game at times, but man, those shoot outs were tense and Lehmann for the win!

I feel a strange amount of love for the German team this time around. I never did before - must be the new football they're playing coupled with how cute Germans are refinding national pride.

Now, Italy or Ukraine in the next match are due for a crushing, yes? Geeeeeeermany! Do it for your Scandinavian cousins too.

ETA: Argentinian players, why are you hitting people on the pitch? That is so not on, and also FIFA will have something to say about that, oh yes.

What happened at the end? ESPN showed a little bit of people fighting, but we quickly got a pan away to the crowds/replays. (Grumblegrumble, wtgAmericanTV)

Not sure how it started - a German might've made a remark, and an Argentinian player kicked him or so such, it was reported. Then a lot of the Argentinian players tried to hit various German team members and a few managed to.

So not cool.

Lehman = ♥

And I KNEW we could count on Klose's head! LOL.

He did get a lot of love after the game, heh. I love the mass hugging.

Not to mention Ballack's... ball.

(Come on, somebody else had to be thinking naughty thoughts when the ESPN commentators announced that the medics were massaging his groin.)

ROFLMAO!

Speaking of that, I wonder what has happened to him this time. His only goal so far was the PK today. That's so not him. :\

Whenever I am watching Ballack I think naughty thoughts; he's my perma-crush. :-) Jealous of medics now.

Klose's my boy. I was so disappointed when they took him out! Ah, well, he did his bit, and he'll be back... oh, yes, the pretties will all be back... :-)

As an England fan, I found myself in the most novel position of supporting the Germans!

And what was going on at the end? Gabi Heinze looked furious as hell, and he's always been a lovely lad at United. He's not the type to fly in fists first without provocation. Most bizarre.

Not sure. But losing a World Cup match like that can do funny things to your nerves. I think one German must've made some unfortunate remark - at least that was said on telly.

We'll probably get more details later and find out.

Nasty end to a very exciting match of two good teams.

Cambiasso was crying and a German made fun of him. Which is very crappy in itself, but hardly justifies what followed.

The moral me feels repulsed but the nasty me wants to laugh. Still, an ugly thing to do, unnamed German player.

I'm not saying that Cambiasso or any of the other players wouldn't have done the same should the outcome had been different. Still, I doubt many people truly get what football means to this country. This match will never be forgotten, so I would have been crying too, definitely.

I lost my bet that our team would never reach the semi-finals, but strangely enough, I'm not too sad about it. I think I succumbed to the peer pressure and began to cheer on Gemany (and even to bit my nails). :D

And now the whole city here is going bonkers.

Hee. The joy of Germans is so hard to resist. I am being totally charmed by it, really.

Go bonkers! You've earned it.

*showers you with charming German glee*

The only disadvantage about Munich going bonkers is the fact that I won't be able to work, read or sleep with an open window tonight. The honking cars cruising the streets will soon make an appearance... :)

I am sad now, because we lost, but mostly because they're fighting on the pitch. Losing is one thing, but not being able to be proud of your team sucks big time.

Yeah, that was a real bummer. Argentina really did fight well up until then, but everyone's going to remember that fight instead. Plus, FIFA will probably have some sort of afterplay.

Shame.

Damn. There goes my prediction for the cup winner.

Can't say Germany don't deserve it, but on penalties? bah.

My new prediction for taking the cup has to be Germany.

:(

Another England fan cheering for Germany I can't tell you how much I hate watching a match go to penalties, it's just so nerve wracking. Let's hope England can pull off a decent win tomorrow. I'm only going to see half the match as I'm on a flight out of Manchester at 5:35, wonder how many last calls there will be for that flight!!

I think a couple of the Germans were insulting the Argentines after their win and the Argentines were not very happy with it. I'm personally not going to be mad at the Argentines for that because the Germans could have been nicer about their win. They're the home country--they don't need to be like that. *blows kisses to the Germans and tells them to behave* *give lots of love and hugs to the Argentines*

GO BRAZIL. Save the World Cup from a complete European dominance yawn! (Well there has to be one country there to represent the rest of the world)

To the fans as well.

Does this mean Brazil is now representing the rest of the world?

I don't really think the Germans started it. I may be biased, but it looked just like a really unprovoked kick from an argentinian player directed at Mertesacker who was not insulting anybody. Sounds like bad losers to me

From: [identity profile] despertarse.livejournal.com
*shrug* Whatever happened, happened. I'll admit, if it was some other team, I might be slightly irritated...but it's the Germans!

and that's exactly my point. I rarely see them starting fights, although this game was tense and there was some unrest. Ah well, let's see what the FIFA says.

Klose!!! Lehmann!!!!

*gives incoherent noises of newly discovered, patriotic glee*

And there was a car-corso through the streets of our sleepy town - with people standing on the sidewalk and cheering: "We're going... we're going... we're going to Berlin!" Three schoolmates of my daughter sang fan-songs into the window of our car - all of them turkish girls - and everywhere you could find kids waving flags. Oh wow - it is like being drunk without having to be afraid of a terrible hangover.

P.S. Unfortunately I didn't bring my digital camera, but if we should make it through the semi-finals, I'll take some photos from the next corso. *huge, silly grin*

Oh - and I highly doubt that any german made fun of someone of the argentinian team who was crying.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

*cough cough*

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Man, I about DIED! Penalties always do me in no matter who's playing but this was pure torture.

And you know, I love the new national pride (she says with a German flag on her cheek). A year ago it would have been unthinkable to see this many German flags all around.
Klinsmann... he really shaped the team and the new more offensive and attrative game.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
