Hubby's not even English and he was getting SO anxious at the end - had to go to the other end of the room and busy himself with something and pretend not to look (while taking sneaky peeks) for the last few penalties.

I have to say I feel rather proud of myself, though. When the game started and he's saying 'they could win this', I said 'Nah, it's a quarter-final - it'll go all the way to penalties and they'll lose. They always do.' And, lo and behold...! Ah, at least England never fail to disappoint.

It is interesting, though, that they played better without Git!Rooney on the field. Hubby doesn't hold with him (I know nothing about football), and reckons he's not as good as the hype claims. The sending off incident was outrageous, though, the little scrote. Grr!

I got fairly sure they'd lose when Rooney got sent off and they were left with ten. And especially when it came to penalties. I remembered Ricardo's saves from last time around.

Many players are not as good as their hype. But Rooney hasn't been bad or anything this Cup. But crotch-stomping is not on.
