Did you know there's Lutefisk on Mars? (Another image here). Me thinks someone with Norwegian heritage works at NASA, oh yes. There's also Drammensfjorden. The real Drammensfjord here on Earth is actually the fjord nearby where my parents live. (You can see a picture of it here.) Cam was much amused, oh yes.

Finally, maybe a break in the Scream case

I went on a mad CSIfic a-writing spree the last few days and actually wrote four chapters in two days. My poor beta... And poor Warrick and Catherine, who I am quite mean to. Ah well. They get to have lots and lots of sex, so they'll forgive me, I'm sure.

Football season starts this weekend! In case you were unaware, I a great lover of football (the European kind, that is - what Americans call soccer) and watch the Norwegian league very closely. Expect some posts on it here and there, not that anyone other than [livejournal.com profile] norwegianne will care much ;) Mmm, balls...

Gary Dourdan's getting an official website - looking pretty good. Mmm, Gary...

Sometimes I do wonder if not my ultimate fantasy is to make a football team of all my various Lust Objects and thus combine two very nice hobbies. Lustballs, anyone?

ETA: UFOs piloted by *demons*?! (Link from [livejournal.com profile] maureenlycaon) Them logic, them hurts.

ETA2: That's quite the wedding gown, there Found on Ugly Wedding Dress

ETA3: All Finnish lies! LIES!

Staying with the parents for tonight. Have been helping mum out with some springcleaning - of course, silly me didn't quite dress right and ended up gathering leaves in a limegreen tanktop. I kinda felt like Catherine, to tell the truth. Heh.

Also took the opportunity to watch Discovery, my beloved, missed channel (don't get it at my flat) and ironically, ended up catching a show on the Scandinavian Star disaster. (This article sums up the main events.) I've always found disaster programs quite fascinating, but it feels kinda odd to watch it about something that affected your country so. It was 15 years ago this week, in fact.

Disasters are spectacular things, aren't they? But after time, they do just fade to Historical Fact, Shit That Happened, Event of Great Woe Now Passed. And when it doesn't directly involve you, memories are great filters. When they do involve you, memories are great torturers. To this day I still panic when getting head under water - when I was three, I almost drowned. I don't even consciously remember it, but something in my mind sure knows and hit the warning button whenever I stick my head under. (It's not water itself that does it - I swim fine, it's always the moment of submerging my head that triggers it.) The mind is a great survival tool, but sometimes it does make you pay for that survival.

Speaking of the mind - mine has decided to hiss from a distance at one particular poster at YTDAW who drive me to headaches with "creative" spelling, general attitude and sniping at the Catherine/Warrick ship and how disgusting it is since it happens to be in the way of one of her pairings. I use this icon in her honour. (And always and forever in Bush's, too.) Granted, I like my particular ships too, but that doesn't give me a right to be venomous about all others or demand a justification for not agreeing with me. We all wear different glasses to the world and the viewing of CSI too, for smeg's sake. We see what we see. It's all about the mind's interpretation at the end of the day. (Of course, some interpretations have more basis in fact than others, but that's a topic for another day.)

Now I'm going to drink wine, read cheesy romance novels (I'd read good fanfic, but there's a sad lack of it) and eventually go to bed early and have naughty dreams. That'll cure the headache.

Sadly, I can't smite people by will and make myself permanently headache-less. Wah.
