Late Night Thoughts
Jul. 24th, 2006 06:28 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Late night thoughts I still remembered when waking up:
- Why do I hate going to bed, but also hate getting out of it?
- 8-4 work does so not feel like me
- Why do I watch What A Girl Wants just for the Colin Firth?
- Fandom is like politics, only with less elections and more speeches, and is a prefect example of what happens when people do their own PR.
- Why does giving a guy oral sex have a rather slangy word, while giving a woman it a rather fancy Latin-style one?
- Is it really worth freezing a bit in the morning to sweat less going home in the afternoon?
- I hate having grudges and yet cling on to them with quite a lot of pettiness
- Why do I still hang on to CSI fandom, and why do I have more CSI fandom pals now than when I was actually active in it?
- Why do I read more badfic than goodfic?
- I really get insanely excited by programs on Discovery and National Geographic that explain how and why particular planes crashes. This is possibly disturbing.
- What makes me suddenly think a guy is the most delicious ever and continue to think that when upon first viewing I hardly noticed? (See 'David Tennant, ogling of')
- Why did Doctor Who fandom suddenly explode with fanmixes after the finale? Does emo bring out the music?
- Cam/Norway is an OTP and I'm not even ashamed of it. Shut up. My country is wee and cute and insignificant, with fjords. It needs my love.
- I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. Also, I will remember Top Gear is on at six every day and will actually watch it. I will not watch news in Saami instead. I will definitely not watch Date My Mom.
- Why can't I win the lottory and just do what I like for the rest of my life?
- Why must there be a Monday?
Now, off to work. Fun fun.
But first, some aww

Date: 2006-07-24 04:36 am (UTC)-We own What A Girl Wants and I can hide behind the fact that my 10-yr-old daughter loves Amanda Bynes. No, really. It has nothing to do with Colin. I enjoy the plot. Really. *ahem*
-I think guys get the better words and euphemisms in general. Now, whether that's because they mostly only get small words and smaller ideas or if they're intimidated by the woman, who's to say. As I'm typing this, my husband is reading and muttering over my shoulder. *snerk*
-Fanmixes. I think you hit the nail on the head. Wallowing in fandom grief is the new black.
Good luck with the lottery and getting through Monday and when all else fails, check the icon. ;)

Date: 2006-07-24 04:45 am (UTC)I have no excuse for watching What a Girl Wants.
Colin Firth is teh!Sex, though.no subject
Date: 2006-07-24 06:07 am (UTC)The plot in that movie is just so deep and requires multiple viewings. Yes.
Nice icon indeed.

I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy.
But Greeeey's. It's awwwwesome. The soapyness, come on. What more do you need? *grins*
Now I just need to work on House with youno subject
Date: 2006-07-24 06:19 am (UTC)Soapyness is so soapy, though. I have such love-hate relationships with it all. Drives me quite nuts when I get addicted.
You could try, but alas for you, House airs on the one Norwegian channel I don't get.(no subject)

Date: 2006-07-24 04:55 am (UTC)Luke loves those ones. They are quite fascinating, when it turns out that the mechanic used a bolt that was slightly too small and 300 ppl died as a result. That must be a stressful job, being an aircraft mechanic.
The other show he really likes is 'Forensic Investigators' which basically details murder investigations in minute detail. They talk to the cops involved, and you get to see the suspects taped interviews too. That can be bloody chilling.
- Why must there be a Monday?
Because if there wasn't we'd all be complaining "Why must there be a Tuesday?" instead.

Date: 2006-07-24 06:29 am (UTC)I like that one too. I like many, many things on Discovery.
You're a smartarse again, aren't you?

Date: 2006-07-24 05:15 am (UTC)Because you also have a secret thing for Amanda Bynes?
- Is it really worth freezing a bit in the morning to sweat less going home in the afternoon?
Yes, if you're not walking at any time on your way home, and if it's nice and warm where you're working.
- Why do I still hang on to CSI fandom, and why do I have more CSI fandom pals now than when I was actually active in it?
Because you love us, and you know it. And you need customers for your wank shelter, and let's face it, we're the best drunken customers there are.
- Why do I read more badfic than goodfic?
Because it's fun to mock badfic authors who for example, actually think that "s-e-c-k-s" is the right way to spell "sex."
- I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy.
Yes you will, and you will love it, dammit!

Date: 2006-07-24 06:42 am (UTC)It is very warm where I'm working. Even have to have a fan on not to melt. And I bike to and fro the train station, so I get a bit sweaty going home. It's uphill and hot, whereas in the morning it is downhill and a bit chilly.
Do I love you all? Hum. I suppose I do. Also, I'm nostalgic. That helps.
I will not, hah!

You know, I find myself asking a lot of those exact questions... I think your first puzzlement in many ways can be answered by many of the latter: Too much work, not enough play, eh?
Oh, and really appreciated that May 17th card, wanted to send you a card or two during my travels this summer, but realized I don't really have your address. I mean, I have a location I guess, but even Norway is not that local anymore;)
Send me an e if you'd like something other than 'regninger'.

Date: 2006-07-24 06:45 am (UTC)Heh, actuallly, there's only two people with the same name as me in Norway, so you'd a fifty-fifty chance of reaching me if you just stuck my name and Norway ;) I know this, because someone once did and it reached the other one, who sent it to me. True story. But sure, I'll send you an e-mail with my addy. Cards are always nice.

Date: 2006-07-24 06:51 am (UTC)Was it worth it? I've been tempted by the film once or twice, too (and for the very same reason), but have managed to resist so far.
Why did Doctor Who fandom suddenly explode with fanmixes after the finale? Does emo bring out the music?
And the 347479th icon-post based on the same screencaps...

Date: 2006-07-24 07:13 am (UTC)Yeah, I have resisted icons of the Wall of Doom for that very reason. But I had to have one from 'Norway' - come on!

Date: 2006-07-24 07:04 am (UTC)- I have an actual poster of your delightful Colin Firth icon in my room and it serves as a testament to how superficial I am - because I don't give a damn about fairtrade coffee (seeing I don't drink the stuff) but I just couldn't pass up the poster.
- I also love those airplane disaster documentaries.
- I have a love/hate relationship with CSI fandom but I just can't bring myself to leave it alone.
-Grey's Anatomy is so campily fun that you can't *not* watch it.
-And that article about Bamse is simply adorable.
no subject
Date: 2006-07-24 07:15 am (UTC)Ooooh, I'd want one of those. Shiiiiny. I don't even drink coffee, but I'd do it fairtrade for him if I did.
They're so addictive, aren't they? I always sit down and think 'hum, I wonder if it'll be freak fire in the insulation this time...' Damn them. I simply must watch to find out.
CSI fandom is a bit like coca cola, I've decided. I know it's bad for me, and at times I don't even like the taste, yet I keep drinking it. Damn them.
no subject
Date: 2006-07-24 07:17 am (UTC)- Why do I still hang on to CSI fandom, etc...- If you are actively involved then you get too involved when crazy stuff happens, but if you are mildly involved you gather people together and talk more about
- Cam/Norway is an OTP and I'm not even ashamed of it etc...- It's a very pretty country.
- I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy etc...- I am free to get addicted to it, as long as I see the seasons once they come out on DVD since I will not abandon my CSI.
- Why can't I win the lottory and just do what I like for the rest of my life?- If you do then I want to as well. I'd love to have more money to buy and do whatever I feel like.
- Why must there be a Monday?- I used to have a club that I was a member of that met every Monday, and Monday for me is CSI: Miami night.
no subject
Date: 2006-07-24 07:43 am (UTC)Oh yeah, Grey's will run against CSI, won't it? It sorta does here, but it's episodes I've already seen, so not such a choice for me.
Norway is pretty. Norway is also mine, and I'm very attached to my possessions.

- Why do I watch What A Girl Wants just for the Colin Firth?
Because Colin is hot in those pants? Honestly, I get the impression that even he's wondering what he's doing there sometimes.
- What makes me suddenly think a guy is the most delicious ever and continue to think that when upon first viewing I hardly noticed? (See 'David Tennant, ogling of')
Got me. I'm in the same boat, and it's happened to me before. It's like suddenly they'll do something and wow. Everything changes. But I never remember what it was that pushed me over the edge.
- Why did Doctor Who fandom suddenly explode with fanmixes after the finale? Does emo bring out the music?
*snerk* Apparently. Along with the 50 bazillion icons and a whole bunch of vids, the quality of which I am not prepared to subject myself to. Well, it does mean I can scroll through Time & Chips quickly, though.
- Why can't I win the lottory and just do what I like for the rest of my life?
Wouldn't that be nice?
- Why must there be a Monday?
Because... oh, I don't know. Monday bad, weekend good.
no subject
Date: 2006-07-24 12:43 pm (UTC)Been a fair bit of dreck fanfic-wise after the finale as well. I hope the emo contigent goes down a bit before the weight of it all implodes a small universe.
Wouldn't that be nice?
isn't that the slogan for the Australia lottory?

Date: 2006-07-24 01:37 pm (UTC)There are a few slang phrases for oral sex performed on a female, but i am far too prissy to type any of them.
Bad fanfic- I can't get past the grammar. Typos don't really bother me (much,)but please learn where the commas are supposed to be. Paragraphs are your friends. Yes, I have coached 8th grade English. That is why I should take to alcohol.
Try A Month in the Country for much Firthness.
I keep trying to win the lottery here: no such luck!
And I always knew that St. Bernard's were the best!

Date: 2006-07-25 04:09 am (UTC)Oh, I know various slang words, but hardly any of my friends actually use them. It's more boys who do. Hum.

I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy.
Give it up now. I only started watching after the super bowl & now I'm a total addict. Of course I'm so pissed they are pairing it against CSI in the US. I won't buy a second TiVo & since I have class on Thursdays CSI gets the 8:00 slot.
Why can't I win the lottory and just do what I like for the rest of my life?
I ask this question every time I remember to play it. :)
Here's hoping your Monday went well.

Date: 2006-07-24 05:14 pm (UTC)Yes, exactly! I didn't like him at first, I thought he looked like Peewee Herman, and I was very upset about losing Christopher Eccleston. And then I got completely obsessed with him, in short order, and now can't get him out of my head. What is it with him?
I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. I will not get addicted to Grey's Anatomy. Also, I will remember Top Gear is on at six every day and will actually watch it.
Oh yes. Yes, you will. Because, Oh! The Drama!, and you just can't help yourself getting obsessed with a show that takes itself Quite That Seriously (as all American television does, which is why I like Doctor Who and British television in general, so much -- because it doesn't!), but is fun to watch all the same. And then afterward you will kick yourself for getting quite so obsessed with it, because in retrospect it is a Very Silly Show, but strangely compelling all the same.

Date: 2006-07-25 04:17 am (UTC)Snort. A nice summary there, I must say. Still, I will prevail to resist and only be a casual viewer. I managed it with that Housewife show, I can manage again.

Date: 2006-07-24 05:41 pm (UTC)Does the show still interest you at least? I have noticed that it inspires a ton of badfic. ;)
Grey's Anatomy ...
I'm afraid to watch any of it, after all the comments here. I'm afraid I'd end up buying all available DVDs and hoping for more, like I did with House.
Norway ...
I really want to visit there someday. It sounds wonderful.

And if you come to Norway, I'll give you a tour.

Talking about which, *bites nails* season three's coming up soon.

What makes me suddenly think a guy is the most delicious ever and continue to think that when upon first viewing I hardly noticed? (See 'David Tennant, ogling of')
I don't know--he has really grown on me (to put it mildly). I was watching He Knew He Was Right this morning and though his character is scummy, there was much drooling. Damn him and his fantastically expressive eyebrows.
Why did Doctor Who fandom suddenly explode with fanmixes after the finale? Does emo bring out the music?
I'm still waiting to see "My Heart(s) Will Go On" in full Céline Dion glory. Ultimate tragic tvu luv song, ya know.
